It's Crunch Time Tuesday, Miss Kitty Fantastico!

It's now Tuesday in LA, and so I will say good morning! It's been a while since I've done a daily thread.

For those of you getting ready for new [i:4494fc87a4] Buffy[/i:4494fc87a4] episodes, there's now only a week to go. I hope you're all prepared.

I was out in Griffith Park again this past weekend, exploring more of the trails. I went along one that suddenly went up a steep slope near the top, and the peak above looked so inviting that before I realized what I was doing I was stuck there hanging off the side of the mountain (okay, maybe it wasn't a mountain technically, but was just a really really big hill - it was big enough for me, though). I couldn't really get back down, so all I could do was keep climbing, going foothold by foothold and thinking "Why the heck did I do this?" all the time.

Obviously, since I'm sitting here typing this, I did reach the top eventually. And the view from up there was worth it:



I mention my experience because it was really symbolic of the way my writing plans have gone of late. Originally, my thought for my next book was that I'd do the first book of a series I want to do in the "high school kids with special powers" medium - but then my story idea crashed (that happens sometimes) and I've had to scramble to put it back together. In doing that, though, I've realized that I'd really like to plan out the entire series before I write any of the books. Meanwhile, I've got a new "stand alone" story in my head that I'd been preparing as a "backup story." So now, I'm going to do [b:4494fc87a4] both[/b:4494fc87a4] - write my "stand-alone" while putting together a detailed outline for the series. Am I crazy? The next few weeks will tell...

Given Willow's personality, I can see her as someone who would launch into some big project, only to get halfway through and have a "What the heck am I doing?" experience. She probably goes into Willow-babble mode when that happens. What do you think Tara might do to help her get through it?

OMG Bob, what an amazing view. *sigh* so jealous. Well, I'm feeling guilty today. I had this big term paper due yesterday for my english class. I did all the research and yadda-yadda. And then when I sat down to write it... nothing. I was totally blocked. I couldn't write. So, I ditched class because I wouldn't have been able to look my professor in the face. How evil am I? I think this is why I don't write for a living. I'll think about the daily question after some sleep. Happy Tuesday Kitties!

Boy, sometimes I miss the west coast. Raccoons are neat and we don't have as many here unless you count big rats in the subway. Wee mountains are neat too.
Heh heh, I can just imagine Willow getting all caught up in some project, colored pens and all, and then being a bit overwhelmed. It's not as funny writing it as it is in my head though. Oh well.
I'm going to go see a soccer game in a couple of weeks. Woo Hoo. Hopefully we won't lose spectacularly when I go. It's a beautiful game that soccer.

Bob! The question isn't about food! You went against the recent trend.
To help Willow out of a mid-project funk, I think Tara would make her a cup of tea and maybe a little snack to feed her brain all the while listening her her babble along, until, like mollyig said, she has talked herself into the solution and then thanks Tara for all her help.

Have I mentioned lately that my students are so unbelievably cute? Two, TWO, of my 1st year classes threw me surprise birthday parties. I was expecting one of them, but the other truly surprised me. So I got cakes in both classes and in one class, I got a short note, in English, from almost every student. One student wrote the note in Korean so some of the students in the front of the class had fun playing translator. (I didn't tell them that I could understand what was written -- most of my students don't know that I speak Korean. Which can be really fun when I eavesdrop and understand what they're saying and respond in English). Gosh, only 3 more months of teaching. I can't believe I've been here for more than 9 months. I'm really going to miss my new girls. *sob*

edited to add: yup, ruth, today is Shakespeare's birthday. As well as Shirley Temple's and a U.S. president's. Though I always forget which one. (I had one of those pieces of paper that talks about all the important things going on when you were born that my mom framed and was on my bedroom wall)

that's a gorgeous view, bob. we don't really have pretty views around here. it's shittingbourne... it mostly just sucks... sometimes, if we're lucky, the smog makes pretty patterns in the sky... :/

anyways... i'm ill. which is great. or not.

i'm always ill lately... it's not nice. i've got Bad Girls & Wild Boys in less than two weeks and i plan on being healthy - at least... i wanna be healthy when i get there... can't promise i'll be healthy when i get *back*...

oh well... i haven't been around here much lately. lots of stuff to do - revision... exams... more revision... a couple more months and it will all be over. *phew*

I think we've already seen how Tara stops Willow when she goes into babble over-drive mode. I'll just expand a little on that. I think Tara would tolerate the first round of babble as it's a way for Willow to vent her frustrations. I think she'd wait until Willow went into babble-loop and then she'd gently take Willows hands and place them on her breasts. This provides two functions. One, it prevents Willow from gesticulating. Two, it draws Willows attention from her problem and towards where her hands have been placed. Tara would then kiss Willow, the purpose of this being to draw Willows attention to Tara's face. Tara would then tell Willow that she's a brainy type and she *knows* she'll figure it out. Rewards or bribes of some kind may be involved at this time. Again the placement of Willows hands comes in, um, handy. She will then leave Willow with a soothing cup of tea to plan the next stage of her project.

Too much time on my hands? Whatever makes you think that?

Well, I am particularly excited. Last night here on TV (in Hong Kong, where I live) was this big long promo (about 90 seconds) for the brand new Buffy, starting in just a few weeks with the stunning episode . . . . . Dracula.

Yep, we are just about to start S5 here. Since its my fav. I guess its not a problem (I have already seen it because the videos appear at the video shops basically as soon as they are released; which means about July before I can see any of s6)

This of course makes me pathetic because I am spending time following all the spoilers and the speculations and I wont even see the eps until after they are shown I may as well just wait until they are shown and read the summaries. But it has its own fun, much of the time.

The promo was interesting it showed Buffys dive off the tower and Willows I owe you pain plus a very cute Tara shot. Nothing like giving away the whole season in the pre season promos (actually, I suspect it was just the most exciting looking parts, they werent explained).

Weather here, 30 deg (Celsius)., 90% humidity and I can actually see right the way across the harbour today (which is about 300 metres), so a clear day and the lovely summer is just around the corner (30 deg and 99% humidity and lots and lots and lots of rain). If I am lucky a few typhoons and no need to go to work.

(I hear Shakespeare ended up singing about merlin after consuming two flagons of claret and a double helping of curried turtle. Love that episode, esp the turnip jokes)

lol @ La. Well it's not hard to turn that into a food-like question! Honestly, I think Tara would bring Willow either a nice cup of hot chocolate... or a bowl of strawberries and cream. Yup... I think strawberries and cream would be the go (though it sounds more like a Giles thing). It's got a touch of class and romance to it. *sigh* I'm going all lovey-dovey again. Argh! What's wrong with me?

Bob, that view looks absolutely wonderful. I remember climbing a volcano crater when I was in the Philippines. I wore a sombrero and everything. Whenever I saw other people heading down, I'd ask if it was worth it. One British woman answered "Yes! And I do recommend you try the coconut juice!" I think the walk (and I use that term loosely, as it seemed more like a climb) was about 90min, which I guess is relatively short. How long was your expedition? Well however long it took, the view you experienced first hand looks absolutely gorgeous!

Well, I'm back to editing and trying to make sense of an assignment my father supposedly has to hand in tonight. Go figure: I'm on my school break, and I'm doing my dad's assignment! What is that????

about Shakespeare. He supposedly died today too. Not that I want to think about my death, or that anything about dying is ever "nice", but dying on the day you were born seems like a nice way to finish up your life. A full circle.

And to talk more about food, I tried dog tonight. Yes, Koreans do eat dog ... though not often. It's expensive and people usually eat it on certain occasions. It was good. Really. It's a dark meat, slightly fatty, vaguely reminiscent of lamb and beef. But I'll try pretty much anything. I can now add dog to my list of "exotic" foods I've tried (not too impressive: donkey, horse, buffalo, snake [truly tastes like chicken], squirmy barely-dead octopus, dog, some people think goat and lamb are strange ...)

Sickness is bad, WiccanBex, you need to get better soon! Lots of green tea! and echinacea and oranges and chicken soup.

So I am reading the paper last night and I see that Layne Stanley, the lead singer for Alice in Chains was found dead. Apparently a herion overdose.

I liked AiC, they were one of the really great bands from the 90's grunge thing. Odd. I know exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard about Curt Cobain (strangely enough the radio was playing "No Excuses" by AiC.) But Layne gets a footnote in my local newspaper two weeks after he died.

Hardly seems right.

it's been some time since i posted in the daily thread... my life has been good, and therefore time near the ocmpter has been pretty non-existent... i got a new job, working the the northwestern law library... finally getting back into the profession that i should've been in after college... my new girlfriend is the bestest... she is hot and adorable adn she loves me to death... also, i got her hooked on btvs... she is a junkie! she was off yesterday, so i left her in my house and said she could watch the rest of season 1 that i hadn't shown her yet... she had yet to see out of sight, out of mind and procephy girl... so i see her in the evening... and guess what... she's watched all the way through inca mummy girl... 6 eps in one day... my goodness! maybe i shouldn't have taped them all... she also loves playing the btvs board game... we played it 6 times in two days she's so crazy about it... well, i'm glad i found someone who shares my interests!

I started out over by the tennis courts near the Greek Theater. Farther up that road there's a gate for a horse trail going up into the hills. After five or ten minutes you'll intersect with a paved road (the road the [i:f1f485fdaf] Buffy[/i:f1f485fdaf] crew has used many times, by the way). When you reach the paved road, stay on the horse trail and go toward the Observatory. The path ends up at one of the peaks.

That's the better way to get there. I took another route and ended up climbing the last several feet, which is not quite so good.
