ezboard has a major bug and I can't clear it up. I have to go and send them an SOS everytime it happens. Sometimes I can't spot it so I am sending an SOS again.

While you're updating the posting levels section of the FAQ, could you fix the off by one error in when you change levels? The levels that I've had so far start one post after the FAQ says they do, i.e. 351 for Sassy Eggs instead of 350 and so forth.

I notice that Xita closed the update thread and created a new one so it didn't take up most of the page. Can one of the mods please unfix it though so eventually it will scroll of page one. At the moment we still have to scroll along way down to get to the first fic.

Thank you I hope this isn't out of line. I would have posted this over on the Pens but the wasn't a suitable thread to post it in.

Yeah I think i mentioned in the first page that I was leaving it up for a day in case people had missed some of the updates. I also linked it in the new thread in case people want to see it.

They appear to be screwing up the order again over on Pens.

Not sure who "they" are... but I blame them for lots of things*S*

Unless its me...

Hey kittens,

I hope someone can help me. Can someone tell me how to use the Buffy font on my website? I would greatly appreciate the help. I can't seem to figure it out. :blush

Thanks in advance, guys.

Hi Jen,

for a start:

www.devshed.com/Client_Si...page1.html

www.microsoft.com/typogra...efault.htm

www.truedoc.com

But please keep in mind that there are a lot of browsers/configurations which will just ignore any embedded fonts - better make shure that your site is readable and appealing even without the Buffy font (IOW: include a working fallback/alternative, which is easy to do when using CSS).

Thank you. :kiss

Well, I'll ask one more question. Do you guys think my site looks okay without the Buffy font? The Leopard's Lair

I think it does, but I was just wondering if, especially the Buffy stuff would look better with the Buffy font?

Thanks again for your help. I'll go read that material and think on it some more. :)

I think it looks fine without it. But jsd is right you have to pick up a back up font if you do use the buffy font because only those people that have downloaded the buffy font would be able to see it.

Also topics are now in order again!

Thanks, Xita. :)

I think I will just leave it as is and keep the other in mind, in case I want to try to do something with it later.

OH... I forgot to ask... when some people make wallpapers, they use the Buffy font... how do you do that?

Sorry for all the questions, guys.

Thanks again for the help and the suggestions.

I want my Media Player to look different, at the moment it's some strange default alien thingy, & I want it Willow &/or Tara instead.

Is there anywhere on Pens where someone's made one, or can someone direct me to a site I can get one from? I've tried Google, but putting 'skin' in just pulls up some very strange sites :eek

Hello again, I've got another question :) I've decided to build an Amber Benson website, but I don't know how. I've got one with netfirms.com because it's free & I think you can hotlink. I'm not sure whether to do it html, or use a webbuilder if there's a free one. And I don't know how to upload it all to my page.

I have read some stuff, & I understand parts of it, but if any of our wonderful webdesigners have got any tips you could share I'd be really grateful. My email addy is listed on my profile, if you can send me any.

hey Jen... I think i can answer your question. Anyone else... strangle me if I'm wrong :grin .

When we do wallpapers.... we can choose ANY kinda font we like to put in. All you need is a digital image compositing program like Photoshop or the likes... and then just type your text in .. select the font you like to use in the 'paper.

Well i saw i could ask one :grin so here it goes!!
When i finish to write a post, i generally check the Preview box before i add my reply (english not being my mother language and all), and when i finally agree to add my reply, it appears on the thread with a little Edit in the left part of my post!
I am very surprised cause i never saw it in any other post, even though many people are editing their replies!
What's wrong with me:cry LOL
Thanks for your help

It's not stupid at all :)

It only appears on your own posts so that only you can edit them/add to them if you need to.

Otherwise people could nip into your posts & say something like....Feena smells!!! :stink ;)

Course the Mods can get in if they need to edit anything, or move a post into a different thread.

edited to add only just skittles :) , oh & btw (in case anyone was wondering) I don't smell that much ;)

edited again to add: why thank you skittles :blush you say the sweetest things

Tawilove, unless you are a wonderfully powerful mod, you cannot edit someone else's postings. You don't want someone else editing your posts, do you?? perhaps adding something you would never say... And you don't want to edit someone else's either? Or maybe you do?? ;)

I am sure that very few kittens have ever wanted to edit someone else's postings ... maybe? :angel

edited to add: ah, feena, you beat me to it... :)

edited again to add: yes, you do, feena, but I love that shampoo!! makes your hair smell so very nice!!! :thud

[/quote:a31c8fd4bc] I presume you are currently using Window Media Player? Unfortunately, skins for this are pretty few and far between.

I would suggest taking a look at Winamp - not only is it so much better than WMP, theres also a whole host of skins out there - including W&T themed ones. I've included a couple of links to help get you started...

[/quote:a31c8fd4bc] Lots of ISPs give free webspace as well - as long as you can upload files to your account it will probably do. I would suggest you try and learn HTML if possible, as opposed to using Frontpage/Dreamweaver etc. Its a lot harder to get started - but in the long run, you will learn so much more about web design by going down this route (and of course, you can then get into more advanced stuff like scripting at a later stage if you want). I can try and find some reasonable tutorials if this would help?

You can write HTML in any text editor - somelike like Notepad is fine to get started with, although there are lots out there which are specifically written for people creating web sites, and make it a lot easier.

Once you have created your site, you normally then upload the pages to your webspace using FTP (stands for File Transfer Protocol) - again there are lots of programs out there which allow you to do this, a good one for Windows is FileZilla. This does depend on the web provider though, as some of the free ones insist you upload pages through a web interface. But best not worry about this until the time comes!

If you are looking for any webbie help (or explanation of some of the stuff above), feel free to PM me. :)

[quote:4f6bc6a011]Quote:

[/quote:4f6bc6a011] Try these for starters:

HTMLPrimer - Fairly comprehensive, and gives a fair bit of background
WebMonkey - Lots of information on this site, including some "getting started" tutorials
W3Schools - Although not really a tutorial site, this is still a good reference point.

The first things to get your head around is the idea of tags, and how these are used to format information on your page. Once you get this, HTML is pretty easy and the best way to learn is through trying something out and seeing how it looks!

[quote:4f6bc6a011]Quote:

[/quote:4f6bc6a011] Probably best download Winamp 3 - its quite a recent version, but it still loads Winamp 2 skins (which I think all the ones I sent you were - WA3 skins are slightly different and I couldn't see any W&T themed ones as yet).

when you're in AIM, you can do a search for people by either email address or name and then you'll get all the screen names listed for that information. of course, if people are using different email addresses for different screen names, that won't help, but it's one way to start!

My sister were talking about it and we can't remember and it's *REALLY* bugging us! :mad

Thank you, sweetie. I'll have to experiment with my Photoshop and see if I can get it to work.

I appreciate your help, girl. :kiss
