Its Reincarnatoin Tuesday, MKF 9/10

Postby Zahir al Daoud » Tue Sep 10, 2002 5:30 am

Hi all. Don't see a daily thread. Thought I'd start one. This notion just popped into my head.

What do the Kittens think of reincarnation?

And if W/T were reincarnated, who do you think they might have been?

I personally do not, but it has been well established in a lot of fan fics in Pens that Willow and Tara have been reincarnated time and time again.

Of off the top of my head I know of,

Belen (Tara, which means "an arrow") and Damara (Willow, which means "gentle girl"). Willow/Damara's nickname was "Lalage,"
which meant "babbler." They were two temple girls in the service of Diana. (Lisa, "Tears of the Goddess")

Druidesses Laith (Tara) and Bohdmal (Willow) of pagan Celtic Ireland 550 BC.(me, "The Dark Druid")

Priestess Leah (Tara) and former nun Sallie (Willow, pronouned "Say LEE") in Christianized Ireland, 500AD. (Me, an unfinsihed adventure for the Buffy RPG.)

Margaret MacDonald (W) and Fiona Maclay (T) of 18th century England.(Sassette, "Answering Darkness")

I am sure there are more.

Personally I like the idea myself. It falls in with the idea that they will always find each other.

The question for me is, which is better: reincarnation or paradise? (aka "Heaven")

With reincarnation, no matter how much better you're reincarnated (Finally, that six pack! And, I'm ambidextrous and multi-lingual. No it's not [i:949d0ae498] all[/i:949d0ae498] about sex . . . is it? :evil ), you're still [i:949d0ae498] here[/i:949d0ae498]: subject not only to the Laws of Nature, but the Laws of Reason.

To wit: [i:949d0ae498] x[/i:949d0ae498] cannot equal [i:949d0ae498] [u:949d0ae498]not[/u:949d0ae498] x[/i:949d0ae498]. For example, I am [i:949d0ae498] deeply[/i:949d0ae498] and inherently [b:949d0ae498] monogamous[/b:949d0ae498]. Yet there are so many (in just [i:949d0ae498] this[/i:949d0ae498] time and place alone!) I'd love to [i:949d0ae498] Make Love to[/i:949d0ae498]. See what I mean? Logic dictates I can't be [i:949d0ae498] completely monogamous[/i:949d0ae498] and [i:949d0ae498] completely polyamorous[/i:949d0ae498] at the same time.

But in Heaven, such piddling Rules don't apply. In Heaven, [i:949d0ae498] Each and Every Kitten[/i:949d0ae498] (and Aly and Amber, [i:949d0ae498] and[/i:949d0ae498] Willow and Tara, Xena and Gabrielle!) [b:949d0ae498] will be My One and Only[/b:949d0ae498]. And I promise, you will [i:949d0ae498] All[/i:949d0ae498] love Gatito like I'm [i:949d0ae498] Your Always[/i:949d0ae498] and [i:949d0ae498] Your Everything![/i:949d0ae498] And, despite common interpretations of Matthew 22:30 ("For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven."), I think Heaven will have every bit of [i:949d0ae498] Earth's Fleshy Delights[/i:949d0ae498] . . . [b:949d0ae498] only more so![/b:949d0ae498]

So, even though I've sometimes expressed a desire to "come back as Aly's lip gloss," [b:949d0ae498] Heaven[/b:949d0ae498] is the way to go. :clap

GG [i:949d0ae498] Since you're all gonna be my Love Poodles in Heaven, maybe one of ya would like to start now? Taking applications![/i:949d0ae498] ;) Out

I believe in reincarnation. Always have, really. The person who has best summed up what I think the purpose of life is, or at least, why we're here, is Sylvia Brown. Not everything she believes resonantes with me, but a great deal of it does. Particularly her take on reincarnating. She says that we plan out ahead of time the lessons we want to tackle in each lifetime (which, being an astrologer, is a huge tenet of my understanding of how we fit into the universe) and give ourselves over to the world in order to experience, deal with, and grow through negativity. Makes an awful lot of sense to me. I highly recommend her books to anyone interested in reincarnation, or just spirituality in general. [i:231daeaac9] Life on the Other Side,[/i:231daeaac9] I believe it's called, dealt with her beliefs on "heaven," or the place we exist outside of mortality. Pretty cool stuff. Very life-affirming.

Maybe Joss should read her.

Hi all,

This has nothing to do with reincarnation, but I have a dilemma & could use some help!

Today at work I found out that the company I work for is taking on new staff & one of the people they are interviewing is a girl I went to university with. She wasn't a very pleasant person at all & Im sure she'll piss off all of the people who currently work there. While we were at Uni. She made some very nasty homophobic comments about me and a few of my friends.:rage So I really don't fancy the prospect of having to work with her.

One of the senior members of staff (who is in charge of the interviews) is also gay so I know that passing on this info will ensure she doesn't get the job.

However it's been 2 years since I've seen her so she could have changed. Also she has just been made redundant & really needs a job. So if I am the reason she doesn't get the job I'll end up feeling bad about it.

So should I keep my mouth shut and give her a chance or do I ensure she fails to get the job at the first hurdle? :confused

All opinions & advice is very welcome as this is starting to make my brain hurt.

Wow Zippy thats a tough one.

Do you think she would get canned if her "ways" have not changed? Or do you think they will keep her on even though she is not liked and pisses people off to no end?

See I tend to give people the benifit of the doubt and of course this has caused many problems in my life, but I still like to be the bigger person in the end.

She may have changed her ways and might actually be a nicer person from when you knew her, and all will be good and fine.

Of course she may NOT have changed her ways and you might get stuck working with the pain in the butt. This of course is one of your fears. :(

Either way your takeing a chance and judgeing the person on what she was like 2 years ago, or forgiving her of what she was like 2 years ago. Time can change a person, as does life experiences. Sometimes for the better, and in some cases for the worse.

I'm not sure that really helped you decide what to do in your situation, there is no real easy answer to this. Sorry.

Hmm. I think declining a person a job because of their views can be a sticky situation.

If they're blatant and vindictive about it - no problem, that's verbal abuse and should not be tolerated from anyone. But if they keep to themselves, and just hold a more 'political' view which does not affect the functioning of the workplace, then you might be hard pressed justifying any action taken aginst them.

Just remember how it would be if the shoe were on the other foot - how would you feel if a homophobic employer chose not to hire you because of your views?

[b:79739c33b0] Zippy[/b:79739c33b0], I agree with [b:79739c33b0] Kalita[/b:79739c33b0].
The forever optimistic and philanthropist in me would tell you to give the girl a chance, after all she might have changed but I understand it's a big risk. :hmm

Just in case she hasn't: people are usually asked not to voice their opinion in any offensive manner in the workplace.
I am sure this is enforced in your office as much as anywhere else and whatever comment(s) she may make (homophobic or other) might not go down too well with your colleagues if she's naturally a rather unpleasant character. I am sure the gay senior manager will do something about it if nobody else does.

Plus, you never know... She might not get the job anyway! ;)

i'm not really sure about what i think of reincarnation. but i'd like to think that after we die, there's something out there waiting for us...

however, it id true, though, as for Willow and Tara, i don't think it matters what they become, they'll always be together no matter what.

Has anyone ever seen the video [b:becd4a5ba7]Indigo Girls[/b:becd4a5ba7] (yes I know I'm obsessed) did for their song "Galileo". Its wonderful, it has them both dressing up in costumes, making statements from their past lives. One has Emily dressed as a bishop saying she thought about God and Sex all the time. There's another one where it shows a bear cub, and Amy says "I was a cute fuzzy bear cub", and then Emily says no it was her. So funny.

I do believe in reincarnation. I think it explains why I take certain aversions or compulsions to things - memories from a past life.
