Complete Spoilers Thread - S6E11 - "Gone"

Postby tyche » Mon Jan 07, 2002 6:36 am

Herc's summary, courtesy of the Cross & Stake spoiler board:
quote:

HERC’s Seen Tuesday’s BUFFY!!
Buffy 6.11 FAQ
What’s it called?
”Gone.”

Who’s responsible?
Written and directed by David Fury (author of “Bargaining, Part II,” co-author of “Life Serial”).

What does TV Guide say?
“Buffy's efforts to help Willow's recovery are disrupted by a run-in with an intrusive social worker and a spat with Spike. Then, she's mistakenly zapped by an invisibility ray wielded by Jonathan, Warren and Andrew. At least she gets a new hairdo.”

The big news?
MAJOR, EPISODE-RUINING SPOILERS AHEAD: Buffy comes to realize she fears dying again. Anya is inviting her ex-boss D’Hoffryn to the wedding. And Warren deliberately tries to kill Buffy!

Do the two other Nerds of Doom witness Warren doing this?
They do.

Are they on board with it?
They are not. But Warren will probably pretend it was an accident.

Does Buffy get the haircut before or after she becomes invisible?
Immediately before.

Why does she cut it?
She begins hacking away following a bad meeting with Doris the social services woman.

Isn’t invisibility a good thing?
Buffy has fun with it, but we soon learn if one stays invisible too long one turns to pudding.

Does Spike try to avoid Buffy this episode?
In no way.

Does Buffy get through the episode without some vampire lovin’?
Nope.

Is the relationship still in the closet?
Thanks in part to the invisibility, the Scoobs remains blissfully ignorant.

Is the magic-pushing warlock Rack back?
Rack is wholly absent. As is Amy.

Is Willow back on the pipe?
She absently levitates a book a little, but catches herself before it’s airborne. She’s tempted again, however, at another point late in the episode.

Does Buffy become aware that the Nerds of Doom are behind the mayhem?
Not until the very end. They prove themselves the world’s worst evil masterminds when Warren announces, “We’re your arch-nemesis-es-sis."

Does Xander confront Willow?
They have a chat. Constructo-boy naturally assumes Will might be behind the slayer’s lack of visibility. His momentary suspicion does leave Will a tad peeved.

Is Dawnie healed up from “Wrecked”?
She’s in a sling. And still harbors bad feelings of blame for both Willow and Buffy.

Is Tara about?
Also wholly absent this week.

What’s good?
Buffy’s witty revenge on Doris the social worker. The off-handed reference to “Out of Mind, Out of Sight.” The ineptitude of the Nerds of Doom, particularly Jonathan's panicky attempts to disguise his identity. The sorting out of who Andrew is. The camerawork for the mostly-sound-effects climactic battle.

What’s not so good?
The “came back wrong” thing is passingly referenced, but the episode offers no new clues as to how.

Herc’s rating for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” 6.11?
***
The Hercules T. Strong Rating System:

***** better than we deserve
**** better than most motion pictures
*** actually worth your valuable time
** as horrible as most stuff on TV
* makes you quietly pray for bulletins
I am – Hercules!!

One step closer to taraville...(hee hee). That should be a song in their next musical. Go, strong Willow! Sounds like she's making a real effort to stay magick -free. Tara would be proud, too.

Boy, Warren is definitely being set up as the baddest troika member. And he hit Willow!! He must die.

So glad wildfeed is back, if only for a week.

Complete Spoilers Thread - S6E11 - "Gone"

Postby Dr.G » Mon Jan 07, 2002 7:02 am

Hmmm, well cannot really form an opinion on this ep as I have not seen it and won't till W/T are back together, but I still need to spoil myself so I know what is going on. So thanks for the synopsis Leoff.
Just a few quicky comments.

quote:

A large pile of magic items sits on a table. We see a crystal ball, herbs, and tarot cards sitting in a pile before they are swept aside into a trunk. Buffy and Dawn (with her arm in a sling) are making the house “magic-item free” to help Willow’s “temptations” to use magic. Dawn protests when Buffy starts packing candles away “well, yeah, to you and me they’re just candles, but to witches they’re like… bongs.” Willow looks on, sitting on the bed, looking very exausted. She brings up two crystals that sit in a peacock shaped container “They were Tara’s…” Buffy finds them and tells Willow she’ll return them.

That candle line made me snort with laughter. I would not have called them bongs though.
And may I utter a Woo and Hoo for the mentioning of Tara in a Taraless episode? Ye gods, that is all I wanted and I got it.

quote:

… “Don’t strain yourself looking, Xander… I’m invisible girl.” Xander thinks for a moment, then asks if Buffy’s been feeling “ignored” lately. “Ignored? I wish. No, this isn’t a Marcy deal.” Buffy says

Oh heh heh, to paraphrase Sarah Kuhn, this must have given the continuity fairy another happy.

quote:

“Oh my God, Buffy…” Willow gasps. Buffy says she’s right, they should go after them, but Willow says “No… your hair! It is adorable!”

And this is one of the many reasons I love Willow so. Very cute.

Well it is a wonderful summary, but we are still counting on your detailed description of the Willow scenes Mr.Minion. Especially that scene in which she mentions Tara of course, and maybe the look on her face when the candles are mentioned, if there is one.

another good scene (i'm such a geek) well one that made me snicker:

In an Arcade! Willow stands by a pinball machine as Warren’s voice is heard saying “Just stay still and you won’t get hurt.” Buffy’s voice appears out of nowhere, asking Willow where the bad guys are? Willow says nearby, but there’s only three of them… she thinks. Warren says they can cause plenty of carnage, right guys? GUYS?!? Andrew and Jonathon are playing a videogame but give it up.

it especially makes me snicker because Warren is basically Joss- it's been said as much by the actor who plays Warren (that he cribbed the mannerisms and general unsetting evil from Joss even before the medium bad stuff cropped up) and some of the writers. and Joss has said the Troika represent all the writers...

this is all a too long winded way of saying imagine the bolded stuff with Joss as Warren and people like Fury and Jane E. as the other two.... *smile*

posted January 07, 2002 15:15                I do believe that this is the first Tara-less episode that actually acknowledged Tara's existence. That's a very good sign. Tara is now so much a part of the Scooby-verse that even when she's not there, people still think of her.

And I also appreciated the fact that Buffy said Willow was gay. Not just in love with Tara, but G-A-Y gay. In your face, nay-sayers...

All in all, this looks like a fun episode. We could really use one.

another good scene (i'm such a geek) well one that made me snicker:

*smile*

Well it is a wonderful summary, but we are still counting on your detailed description of the Willow scenes Mr.Minion. Especially that scene in which she mentions Tara of course, and maybe the look on her face when the candles are mentioned, if there is one.

Two words. No. Tara.

And this is a good thing I guess. Less now, more later.

Mwah-hah-hah!!!!!I haven't even finished reading the whole thing, and I just had to comment on that!I think I'll go off and relax with some 'magic weed' of my own!

And Spike doing 'push-ups'...this is going to be one funny episode!

On a more serious note, it's nice to see Willow using her brains for a change.

this ep sounds more amusing than i thought it was going to be, but it still probably won't be one of my favorites. i'm glad we get to see plenty of willow, though.

but please god, make the lame gunmen stop! soon! the nerd humor is getting to be too much even for me!

Don't worry Garfield, Mr. Minion is on the case

Oh I can't believe I read over that. Hmmm, interesting, it may indeed be a clue. Gay means happy right? I am guessing this predicts that 6.9 eps from now we will find out that Willow is endeed full of happiness, provided by some Tarahand probably.

Well, sounds like a fun, not-too-deep ep. And the Scoobs find out about the troika, and Warren shows a real dark streak. Glad to hear that Tara was mentioned, that Willow's really trying, that Buffy wants to live again, that Dawn is upset and that people are actually noticing.

Thanks Leoff, and woo and hoo for a new ep.

Mmm, not looking like a terribly *exciting* episode...but with the lack of new stuff for so long I'm just twitching with excitement to see it!

That bong line...hee!

I can't wait to see willows face when she mentions Tara. Full of longing...Id imagine. ^^

I was at the "Essence of Amber" and Little Willow the moderator of the site has a page called T.V. Listings which lists the episodes that Amber is going to be on, like the episodes on FX and stuff like that. Anyway she has listed that Amber is going to be in the episode, does anybody know for sure if Amber is going to be in the episode or not.

Just a thought... These crystals Willow 'brings up', are they just nondescript crystals, or could this be related to the Doll's Eye Crystal ? Or maybe that would be a little too stab-in-the-hearty for what seems to be a rather light ep ?

And come on, Willow's not gay ! Haven't you people seen the looks she was giving Tito ?
I actually foresee a new version of 'Triangle' this year, with Xander, Tito and Will, and a giant wrench on the loose...

Rose, way tired...

Now that you mention it, I was worried about the Doll's eye. The wildfeed report said they put the crystals/magick stuff in a trunk, so I'm hoping that means W/T can retrieve the meaningful ones later after Willow is stronger.

Willow's gay? When did that happen? I guess it has been a long time between new episodes.

I'm glad for a chance to read the synopsis because it won't be on TV tomorrow in Detroit. There's a basketball game on, so we have to wait until Saturday to see it. Same thing on Jan 15, 29, and hockey on Feb 5. Guess I'll have to move someplace where UPN doesn't have sports pre-empting Buffy.

It was very nice to see Tara's name mentioned. She must still be alive. It was also good to see strong Willow coming through in the clutch. It will be nice to finally see something new, even though it's belatedly.
