Buffy Video Game headed for the Xbox

Buffy Kicks Onto Xbox

Electronic Arts' video-game version of UPN's Buffy the Vampire Slayer series will come to the Xbox gaming platform, not the PC, the IGN Xbox Web site reported. The game's story will take place between the third and fourth seasons of the show, when the Scooby Gang is still at Sunnydale High.

Buffy will be the only playable character in the game, but all of the other major characters will pop up, with the exception of Oz, the site reported. Buffy cast members, except for lead Sarah Michelle Gellar, will provide voices. Angel will also make an appearance. The villians will include the Master.

The Buffy game is slated for release sometime in early 2002, IGN reported.

oh my god, i want to cry. this game looks so awesome! but i'm just NOT going to buy a damn xbox and support microsoft more than i'm already forced to!

Wasn't this supposed to be out for PS2? I remember an article in the Buffy Mag a while back.

I cannot see this being limited to Xbox...just there first I would have thought. Whilst microsoft may wish the developers to support Xbox they would be cutting their own throat's to exclude the PC totally unless MS is convinced that the Xbox is going to sell millions in the first few months, which is not a vibe I am getting here in UK where it has hardly been mentioned. Anyway not sure why this bothers me, I don;t play such games anyway...just give me my W/T Sims and I am happy!

It wouldn't be the only reason to buy X-box...but just about. My money's saved for Gamecube though (oh Ninty...how I wish you didn't hate Europe so much...) I expect the Buffy game will show up on PS2 and Gamecube too at some point. EA are multi-platform sluts [g]

I seriously doubt it will be an xbox exclusive as everyone seems to belive, lets face it, its not gonna be the biggest seller of the box anyway, and converting it to pc will be easy, so I see no reason at all for it not to come out on pc.

Read an article about the release of the Xbox and how Microsoft was now allowing retailers to take pre-sale orders. The suggested retail price has still not been set but has been quoted at starting at $499.00, this can directly from a Microsoft rep.

I will wait until the game comes to PS2.

Okay, i'm confused. I've visited a couple Australian computer games online sites before, and from them you can already pre-order the game for when it becomes available this October and the format is PC not X-box? So either we're getting a different game, or they're completely wrong with their information? Here's a couple links to what i'm talking about

Aaah the old "pre-sale orders" trick. That would be where [enter manufacturer of your choice] let retailers take presale orders at a specific time. The press are then asked to film the queues for the order taking process thus drumming up more business.
[Manufacturer of your choice] is "stunned by the demand" and says that they will not be able to guarantee supplies except by pre-sale order. So more queues to order.
[Manufacturer of your choice] is unable to fulfil the pre-sale orders (so what was the point?) so many people will have to go without until stocks can be built up. People get "desperate" and demand more supplies, which miracle of miracles [manufacturer of your choice] finds just in time to supply the huge crowds at the game stores with what is now a "Must have" item rather than a console that is largely unsupported by many games until about 12 months into production.

Sound familiar anyone - particular in the UK?

I would rather get the GameCube because I prefer the Nintendo games...can anyone say Legend of Zelda with me? How about Mario Party?

But I'm sure someone I know will get Xbox, so maybe I'll get to play Buffy.

The only console I have is the SNES... Cost me $140 in 1996 and came with Super Mario All Stars. I haven't bought any more games cuz I'm permanently broke, but in the last couple of years I have become an Emulator junkie. I have ZSnes now with Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, Castlevania X, Killer Instinct, Legend of Zelda (*drool*) and Donkey Kong Country... Aah it's all so illegal, but SO FUN!

I think while I'm broke I'll wait out the 4 or so years 'till some bastard uses his genius to create an Xbox emulator, then it's Buffy roms all 'round!

Doea anyone know if they are gonna release it for the PS2, if not I guess i'll have to buy an Xbox. This game was suppose to be originally released for playstation, theres been speculayion aboot it for like a year maybe longer now. But I guess microsoft had the money to buy it huh.Dang!! And I wasted all that money buying a PS2 for this Purpose argghhh!!! Oh well.

Originally it was going to be on all the major systems: Playstation, Dreamcast, PC, Xbox you name it, it was going to be on there.
However Fox interactive, I guess, is having some problems money-wise and decided to release it only on the Xbox. It still might come out on the PC, but I'm not quite sure.

While we're at video games, has anyone here played Max Payne? Have you found the Buffy easter egg?

If not here's how to find it:

In ACT ONE: CHAPTER THREE: PLAYING IT BOGART, somewhere near the room with a shotgun trap there is a wodden boarded up door. Break it, you'll find youself in a room with lots of blood, walk through the window and then right and then through a window again, there will be a guy liying on his stomach with a stake in his back and next to him there is a name written in blood. And the name is, yes you've guessed it, Buffy!!! Also, when you enter that room, Max will say "I'm not sure if I even want to know what happened here." And when you head back, a police car will be passing by on the street below, and if you shoot it, it will honk!

I'll try to post a screenshot tomorow, but I realy suggest you checking it out yourself!

the buffy game was supposed to be multi platform yes, but microsuck got lucky and snagged it once the developers ran out of cash. it is still being developed for the PC as well though. i have a friend with a running demo of the buffy pc game and it kicketh all ass. so no worries if you don't want to endorse the x-box, just buy the PC version of the game.

that's what i'm doing as a loyal gamer. pff on the x-box. i'm waiting a least a year to see how it does before i get that. gamecube however, hell yeah, getting that at launch.
