Well I'm definitely thinking of this season as being the middle of a story:
Season 5 - Season 6 - Season 7
With "Restless" as the prologue, and an epilogue of similar strangeness to come either at the end of season seven or start of season eight (subject to the shows stautus)

Tara: "I understand. You have to be with the person you l-love."
Willow: "I am." – "New Moon Rising"

"Honey, in case you didn’t hear me the first six-thousand times, no more teleportation spells." – "Crush"
Willow: "I figured, life goes by so fast, if you don’t write stuff down it just gets…lost."
Tara: "Down to every last bagel"
Willow: "Down to every last everything I do with you" – "Forever"

No, Chris, it wasn't real easy to write. And I hate saying "They were right and I was wrong" as much as anyone else.
My point was just that I've seen quite a bit of speculation about how Tara might not be the "real" BSD. But the people who have been banging the concept into our heads all season and who, as far as I know, coined the phrase have been pretty clear they were talking about Tara.

Yep, I think the only cliche they missed was the Lesbian gym teacher seducing unsuspecting student in locker room. Maybe they had to cut that scene out because of time constraints.

Hey, maybe Buffy is still traversing various dimensions as she travels through the portal. Is it possible that she's currently stuck in some Ultra Hellmouth version of Sunnydale where everyone's flaws are emphasized and distorted and even mundane situations like a leaking pipe are exaggerated to the maximum degree? I wonder if there's a Key to understanding this somewhere?
a KEY to understanding this??? i read that and go back to my prior thoughts that somehow the fact that buffy died instead of dawn created some major dimensional glitch which created season six... it all goes back to the KEY...
"I'm not the key anymore. Or if I am, I don't open anything" --Dawn
somehow, i just don't believe that...

May come back dechipped. Tara? Dead. Willow? Gives in to her rage and grief. Possibly not safe for Dawn to be around. Buffy's so worried she apparently leaves Dawn with Clem.
It occurs to me that if you toss the *intense* homoerotic subtext in "Thelma and Louise" in, it might be legit enough to work for your list too.
It'd certainly fit the 'crazy'and the
'murders' cliches as well as the punishment by death one.
Ick. Never did like that flick -- although I must admit that I've only seen it once, ages ago. I have issues with one of the actresses. In that watching her emote makes my teeth itch.

Yeah, I was wondering about that two. . .the key was supposedly so powerful, the entire season 5 revolved around it, tons of people died for it, but as soon as the portal is closed, we never talk about it again? I know that Dawn is human, and the portal could only be opened at a certain time, but this incredibly powerful, old energy that has been protected for so long was only to be used at that one moment at that one place? I feel like the whole issue of the key was dismissed a little too easily. What do we really know about it? Just a thought. . .i know, I'm reaching. . .kittens rock.

I've been reading Wendy's info for a long time and if the above is meant to indicate that Wendy has in any been "immature" and "unsportsmanlike", than honestly, I think that's not fair. As far as I know, all Wendy ever did was be the first to post that Tara was unfortunately going to be the BSD. It wasn't something she made up to hurt anyone; it was legitimate info that she got and reported. Whatever her sources were/are, she has only reported spoiler information that she has every reason to believe is legitimate and truthful.
I was *not* happy to hear that Tara was going to die. It's a rotten turn of events. I don't fault Wendy for reporting it, however, or sticking by her sources when she believes that they're telling her the truth. The accuracy of her information, not just on this point but all season, leads me to believe that Wendy is an honest and believable spoiler source -- even when it's information that I'm not happy to hear.
