xita thanks so much for the editing help. and, you have e...
Kiwiccan hey there. i need to take time to respond to the other posts too, but i'm at work, so i just wanted to take a minute to answer yours...
i do refer to the crew/cast as "we", it's kind of hard when the crew is so familial not to refer to it like that, you know? but i am speaking purely for myself, like i mentioned above. just to kinda make that clear.
officially, BeMu and I are craft service, which is preparing 3 meals/providing snacks on set. i'm pretty much doing whatever they need me to do. since it's such a small crew, everyone tends to chip in where ever it's needed.
personally, in pre-production i helped paint the set (which *ahem* lol, had to be done again, but not my stuff!
, helped with some of the decorating/cleaning/moving furniture/fixing stuff, i've read through lines with people, i've done PA stuff, prop foods, that kind of thing. i maintain/update (or attempt to) the website, i answer a lot of the chancemovie emails, help take care of the actual mail that comes in including logging the info into a database and sorting/replying...really, just whatever needs to be done, you know? it's all been good.
k, this took me two hours to write from work, looks like i need to get back

i was definitely meaning no ill will to anyone in particular, least of all the people of this board, having never met anyone nor been on this board before, i don't have the basis to judge anyone. when these concerns were brought to my attention (the posting of the site), LW deleting the posts from her board, i thought maybe it was a good opportunity to look into it and kind of give the other point of view. but my comments were more of a generalization (we all know how those turn out) and meant in the broadest sense, not aimed at anyone in particular. i can't stress how much it is (of course) your choice whether or not to post the shooting sites, since it is most definitely public info; but i (personally) really appreciate the idea of those who take the trouble to find it out for themselves are those who are privy to the info, maybe cutting back on some of the random ones who may stumble across that info and kind of abuse it.
as for how Chance is going, i am continually suprised and happy to see how the dailies turn out, Patrice (the DP) really has a flair for catching some amazing shots (there are a couple fantastic ones of tressa/amber, as well as amber/james and tressa on her own in particular). we are all really, really hoping that when it is finished and brought to film festivals that it will be bought and distributed on a wide basis, since so many people have shown such great kindness, financial support, and offered tons of different services in a various manner of ways. i've been contacted by about four different people for interviews with amber regarding the movie, and if those do indeed work out, i'll definitely give you guys the heads-up on that, too.
tvsurfer thanks muchly for the welcome, especially with my less than stellar appearance *g* i would like to stick around, time in general has become an issue (sleep? it's for the weak, lol, or the completely exhausted...i think i'm both *g*) but with only two more weekends of filming, i think it'll loosen up a bit.
this movie has been nothing BUT a learning experience...for everyone. when diane (amber's mom) came over and we talked about finances, and how scary it is to fund a movie on your own, we came up with the fund-raiser (we being diane, beth -my roomie- and myself) and since then it's been...overwhelming in the best possible sense of the word. (and just a note on the pictures: we've been sorting through about 30 rolls of film, we're behind on getting those out but it's our first priority at this point and we hope to get moving on that by the end of the week). who knew? i've certainly never done anything like this before, and it's kind of a learn as you go and hope you don't end up with permanent foot-in-mouth disease.
in regard to the public/onlookers, we've only really had one major run-in, and that was with a resident on the location we've so graciously been allowed to use, regarding noise, etc. others have been minor, and i can honestly say onlookers have not presented any serious issues. we've been really lucky that the good ones are the majority of the ones that have shown up
in general, just want to say thanks to everyone for being really understanding. i read over the posts again and everything that's been said is justified; individuals should never be judged by the group aspect and the people here that i've communicated with have been completely supportive, kind, open, and very helpful (thanks jsr!) the response from fans in reference to the fund-raiser blew me away; i never expected the generosity that has flooded in (both emotionally, financially, and service-wise) and it just speaks to the nature of the fans.
i think amber has been really lucky to play a character that touches so many people in so many different ways, whether it be those people who are painfully shy, feel out of sorts with others, come from families that restrict them in every possible way, have run into issues because of who they are and who they love, or are women with a strength that isn't necessarily approved of or looked at in a positive light. i think she's lucky because it allows her to come in contact with the humanity in a lot of people...
in any case, i'm rambling at this point. suffice to say that amber is an amazing actress, a very talented writer, a tireless (sort of
director, and a genuine person. *i'm* lucky to be part of this.
s'about it, have to find some sleep now.
take care all
jen
I think it's great that you guys gave the fans an opportunity to help Amber fulfill her dream. It is a good feeling to know I helped, you know? And I do hope it gets a release of any kind, and that many people get a chance to see it. And are these interviews from magazines? Thanks in advance for any info you can give us on this.
And by the way, thanks for the journal and pics. It's very cool that Amber can share this experience with the fans.
i shall simply say, i fixed stuff, i added pics, check it out!!
xita i know exactly what you are talking about, and agree totally. (on all points
it's kind of neat that this is such a big group effort, you know? i like that idea. we tried to get a lot of pics of everyone, because amber wanted people to be able to see what it was really like to make a movie...i think it comes across well
the interviews....two were online mags, one was some freelance woman in kansas...crazy how the word spreads! but i'll send you guys info as soon as i find out!
okay, must. go. to. bed.

I'm worried that girl is over-working herself:~(
as for the stash, man, i keep leaving dipilatory creme around but she just doesn't get the hint
naah, let's just say there's a little bit o' cross dressing. i'm not giving anything away *g*
judy!!!! big warm {{{{{hugs}}}}} and a sloppy *SMOOOOOCHA*
Drunk pictures are the best. Everyeone needs to have a series of those. I have never been photographed drunk.. ever.. really. It's true
Cross dressing! Woo hooo, how cool does this movie sound.
[This message has been edited by xita (edited April 05, 2001).]
BTW great pics at your site, thanks for the URL. you look like you were all having one hell of a time. I have to admit that I have many many pics of me on the streets (and in the houses) of LA a few sheets to the wind.
As for amber's upper lip growth...sounds like you may have to be a little less subtle about it. LOL
Hmmmmm the cross dressing sounds very interesting I can't wait until this movie is finshed and in in distribution. I hope I'm out of NZ and back in LA by that time.

has she lost weight?
just to let you know, we put up another journal entry tonight...
xita you will have e soon, i promise this *g* the shoot is scheduled for 5 weekends..just 10 days. so far we've had to drop a few scenes, which is a bit frustrating, but losing the footage and having to re-shoot was really nerve-wracking given that we are so under a time clock. james (who plays simon) is most likely going on vacation right after filming ends, since buffy wraps the wednesday (i think?) before the last weekend of filming.
and i can't *believe* you've lucked out and never been photographed drunk. i've had terrible luck with that. problem is, when i'm sober, i completely avoid cameras...so people can only get me when i'm not paying attention (ie have had a beer or three *g*)
doesn't happen often, but it's not pretty when it does
Kiwiccan lol, thanks. i literally drink about three times a year, and two of those are at the buffy posting board parties
we're really hoping to get the movie bought/distributed; amber's planning on trying for as many film festivals as she can to get it out there. *crossing fingers*
and i saw that pensive picture and thought you guys would appreciate it
one of the best i've come across yet.
on the weight issue: just my thing, i remember when she first started on buffy and when she & willow had all the subtext going on, people came on to the bronze and started bashing her as the fat lesbian chick, etc. when i went to the pbp in 2000, i met her and couldn't believe it was her, she was so *little* in person. clothes and angles *definitely* make the difference.
now, i'm a tall/big-ish girl, 5'9" and *mumble* pounds... and to me, she's itty bitty. i had the opportunity to see sarah michelle gellar as well on a different occasion, and she is absolutely paper thin, it's crazy the standard out here.
take care all, i'm off for real sleep. a whole night's worth!
by the way any idea who the portrait pics on the wall behind the sofa are, in the "artists collaboration
section" ? that wouldn't be a young amber and her sister would it?
gotta say I'm VERY surprised amber could film a full length feature in just 10 days, especially with reshoots, like WOW
Amber and Nicks fiance made out for 3 weekends ?!!!(GGG) Umm and just what is this movie about again ??(G) Wild child indeed ?? (G)
Hollywood is amazing !!!!!
GO Amber !!!!
[This message has been edited by tvsurfer (edited April 06, 2001).]
Not implying Amber isn't gorgeous all the time.
I guess I was channelling my Grandma Lily - I saw that pic of Amber and wanted to feed her bagels with lox schmear and jello with little marshmellows ("Eat, eat! You're too thin!").
I'd also like to feed Aly and Sarah, but that's just the worrier in me.*G*
They're such wee little lassies;~)
Thanks again for the great inside scoop - I am soooo looking forward to this film!
1. Amber making out with Nick's fiancee ...will nick be asking for private copies? 2. I have *only* ever been photographed drunk at parties... 3. yes, that first pensive pic looked good. 4. I always think that she looks good anyway. 5. ah yes, film fest. good luck and well wishes hurtling towards the chance peeps right now. 6. Damn, why's my printer sputtering now? I've only got another 2 hours to go!

Amber is so amazing, I can't wait to see this movie and it has nothing to do with watching Amber make out with Tressa..really it doesn't...well ok, maybe a little bit

jen, it's so cool that you're posting here to give us updates! i like your website - and your tattoo!
so, a personal question: how did you meet/become friends with amber? it sounds like you started out as your average buffy fan...there must be a story there. if you don't mind sharing it.
here's hoping some good film fests pick up chance...especially some in nyc, so amber will come here and screen it and i can finally meet her!
okay, so the day i called in sick..we end up running errands for a solid 10 hours. woo hoo!
tvsurfer heya! yep, indeed, those pics on the wall are portraits of diane (middle) amber (left) dani (right) we had the meeting at their abode
and the filming in 10 days...crazy, isn't it? the movie should be about 85 minutes in length, depending on what gets edited. the credits, lol, probably half the movie *g*
Warduke *eg* i know, it's a big draw. there's some...great....footage coming up for the movie
wiccie i *so* know what you're talking about, it's the italian in me. i keep trying to stuff food in everyone's faces *g*
april i'm so glad i have people to share with! because the stuff is just way too exciting to keep all to myself
as for how we met, it was through a mutual friend when we moved in down the street from their house; also, i went to england last year and we ended up meeting out there and bonding for two weeks. was *so* much fun. diane has the BEST stories, and amber is just a really genuinely sweet person. been *really* lucky to know them, they've made me/us feel very at home out here. and then....hey, jen, wanna help make a movie? what an innocent question for all this craziness *g*
just to let you guys know....we have more pics, i'll be scanning them in *hopefully* tonight, but if i trade sleep for scanning, definitely by tuesday
hope this finds everyone well!
mj
You are one lucky gal to have seen the kissing footage! We are all very much looking forward to that. 85 minutes is a good lenght for an indy movie. Fill it up with some outtakes
And more pictures, please whenever you can, we wait, patiently (well we try). Thanks for sharing, we live vicariously
Good Luck with this weekends shoot!
Kittens have we all sent Amber our checks ??
Anyone have a few extra $$'s to kick in again ??
(G) I mean we just have to help Amber finish this film, right ?
because (G) we just have to get to see the results ourselves of these 3 weekends of Amber and Nicks fiance's umm scenes (G) right?
GO WILD CHILD AMBER !!! (GGG)
