Part 12
When Tara returned home two hours later, she felt drunk with happiness. The memory of Willow’s arms around her waist, their bodies so close together, those dazzling emerald eyes right in front of her and the cute Willow-grin and Willow-lips so close up that Tara could lean in and kiss them made Tara feel light-headed and giddy. Of course, she hadn’t kissed Willow, but she had wanted to so much it was as though a magnet had been drawing Tara to Willow’s lips with irresistible force. But Tara had resisted. And she hated herself for it. She wished she could have been brave enough, wished she could have plucked up the courage to at least tell Willow how she felt, but she hadn’t.
During the slow dance, for one heart stopping, breathtaking moment, Willow had laid her head on Tara’s shoulder, her nose buried into the blonde’s neck and Tara thought her knees would collapse right then and there. Instead, she managed to stand up right and breath in Willow’s delicious scent as though it were her oxygen; a vital part of living.
Once that particular song had ended, a faster song came back on. Although she hadn’t wanted to, Tara let go of Willow and let her hands drop reluctantly to her sides, but Willow still hadn’t released Tara. She stayed with her hands encircling Tara’s waist and gave her a light squeeze before letting go.
“Thanks for the dance,” she had smiled, and her eyes sparkled.
“No problem,” Tara managed to squeak out. She stared at the redhead in front of her and wondered how she would take it if she confessed undying love to her and kissed her until she was breathless and dizzy, but then decided against it.
They had sat back at their table with drinks and talked. Tara was delighted that it turned out they had many things in common. They were both huge fans of SpongeBob, they both loved cats and koala bears, they agreed that The Cat in the Hat was the best childhood book they had ever read, and their favourite Disney character was Tinkerbell. All of this just convinced Tara more that Willow was made for her, and she Willow. Tara had never met anyone – not even Kendra – that she could talk to so freely and easily. Willow made Tara feel as though she were special, and important. She listened to what Tara had to say and even seemed to find it interesting. Tara had told Willow about her father, and his drunken rages and abusive behaviour, and Willow had gotten so angry that she looked like she was about to march down to Alabama and beat Mr Maclay within an inch of his life. In turn, Willow told Tara about how her parents never took any notice of her and didn’t care about her, as long as her grades were good and the neighbours were impressed. Tara felt shocked. How could anyone not want to pay attention to Willow except for her grades? There was so much more to Willow than just her cleverness.
Tara had only known Willow for a day, and yet it felt like forever. Tara hadn’t known it was possible to fall in love with someone in less than 24 hours, but apparently, it was.
Tara let herself in by the front door, and jumped in shock when she saw her mother standing in the hall.
“Mama!” she cried, her heart racing. “You scared me!”
Mrs Maclay smiled. “Sorry, sweetie. I was going to make a coffee, but I saw you outside, thought I’d wait for you.”
Tara narrowed her eyes at her mom as she hung up her jacket. “Mama, you weren’t waiting up for me, were you?”
Mrs Maclay sighed. She had never been very good at lying to her daughter. “Well, it is a new town. I was worried.”
“I told you I’d be home by half ten,” Tara reminded her, glancing up at the clock that hung on the wall. “I’m early.”
“I know,” Mrs Maclay nodded. “And I’m sorry. I know you’re not a little girl any more. You don’t need me getting all panicky.” Suddenly, she looked teary. “My little baby girls grown up so fast.”
Tara rolled her eyes jokingly. “Mama!” She put an arm around her mothers shoulders and ushered her into the kitchen, sitting her down on a chair and then switching the kettle on.
“How was your night?” Mrs Maclay asked, dabbing at her eyes, feeling a little embarrassed to have gotten so emotional.
“It was wonderful,” Tara answered truthfully as she got two cups out of the cupboard.
She turned to look at her mother and felt a stab of guilt. She had said it was wonderful, but had not told why. Tara had been hiding that she was gay for three years. She had first found out when she was 13, and the fact that she found girls attractive hadn’t come as a surprise at all. It felt natural. It was natural. She had been too scared to tell anyone though. Her mother, Tara knew, would love her whatever, but that didn’t make it any easier, and as for her father and Donnie, Tara knew how they’d react, and it wouldn’t be good. But her father wasn’t here anymore, and Tara knew that it was now or never. She had to tell her mother, she knew it would be better that way. At least then she’d be able to confide in someone about Willow, other than Faith.
Taking a deep breath, trying to sort out what she was going to say, Tara set the cup of hot coffee in front of her mom.
“Mama, can I tell you something?”

Maybe he could get hit by a big truck......ok, that's mean........but maybe he could move back to Alabama with his jackass father.
. Wonderful updates. Love sam xx
. Loved that so much!!
Well, it's actually Willow doing the tingling, but I have a feeling Tara is doing some tingling herself. Maybe they can tingle together?
I got again two updates
but good that she is such a clever girl
The reason I'm so sucky with the update-age is because, mainly, I'm on holiday and actually forgot about the fic (again please dont shoot), but maybe you'll be pleased to know I've got another fic idea rolling around my brain, so you might have another fic from me to read! Don't know if you'll be pleased about that or not
