As Willow made her way back upstairs and into the living room everyone was as she had left them. Handing the book to Dawn, who was the closest, Willow met Tara’s gaze for several seconds before looking away. “That’s why.”
Dawn held the book up so that she could see the page and began reading it to herself. Being impatient Giles stood and moved over to Dawn, taking the book from her and reading for him self what Willow was referring to.
Having seen the cover of the book Tara had began piecing together what Willow meant, a heaviness settling in the pit of her stomach.
Giles glanced between Willow and Tara. “You did a joining ritual?” As the final piece fell into place Tara felt as though her heart would burst any second. “Yes.”
Everyone in the room seemed to understand the implications except for Buffy. “So they did a joining spell, why is that a big whoop?”
The first to speak was Spike. “The ritual would join them as one.”
Swallowing hard Giles clarified. “Each would become a part of the other. The performers of such a ritual are bound together. So basically, Willow and Tara are bound to exist for all eternity.”
Buffy’s mouth fell open as she looked from Willow to Tara. “When did you do this? How did you do this?”
Hearing the disapproving tone in Buffy’s voice Tara took a deep breath. “We d-d-did it just after my birthday.”
Buffy glared at Willow, moving closer to her friend. “How could you suggest such a thing?” Looking up to meet Buffy’s glare Willow stood at her full height. “Did you think of the consequences before you did this? Did you tell Tara exactly what this would mean? Did you Willow?”
Tara moved to stand between Willow and Buffy, facing the Slayer. Moving forward the blonde gently pushed Buffy back to what she considered a safe distance from her ex-lover. “Back off Buffy.” All eyes were on Tara as she continued. “I was the one. I thought of it. I suggested it and I even found the ritual that we used.”
The moment Willow found the book her emotions raged out of control.
Oh My God, what have I done? I’ve tainted my dear, sweet Tara. She’ll have to live knowing that part of her is a filthy disgusting vampire. A demon. The thing she was scared of the most and I’ve made it come true. There must be a way I can undo this, make her whole. Give her back what I no longer have a right to. I can’t be here, near her. I have to go, figure out what to do.As all eyes were on Tara, Willow silently moved towards the door. Spike caught the movement out of the corner of his eye. Turning to face the door he was in time to see Willow open it and step out into the night. Without thinking Spike moved to follow her, brushing past Giles on the way. “Spike, where the bloody hell do you think you’re going?”
Not pausing in his movements he glanced in Giles’ general direction. “Willow’s gone, I’m going to bring her back.”
Tara spun around to see the spot Willow had occupied now empty. Spike knew that she would probably try to go with him. “Everyone stay here, I’ll find her. Bring her back home.” Without waiting for a reply he too was out the door.

Spike was surprised at the speed with which Willow moved.
Not bad for a newbie. By the time he had reached the footpath in front of Buffy’s house she was out of sight. Letting his instincts guide him it still took him almost two hours to find her.
As he walked through one of the smaller cemeteries Spike heard the distinct sounds of fighting off to the left. As he came to a small clearing he stopped in his tracks. Less than five feet away was Willow beating the unlife out of two vampires. One was already on the ground unconscious with what looked like a whole bag full of broken bones, while the other was stumbling around like a drunk on pay day.
Willow heard someone approaching from behind. Spinning around she was met by Spike who had his hands raised. “Just one minute there bruiser, I ain’t gonna hurt you.”
Pointing at the two mangled vampires Spike couldn’t keep the surprise out of his voice. “So, beating the crap out of those two help any?”
Glancing back at her victims Willow moved a little closer to Spike and shock her head. “I thought it would. But all it did was remind me of what I am now.”
Spike watched as Willow’s shoulders slumped as though a huge weight had been placed upon them. It was clear the girl was struggling with her new predicament. Spike felt pity for the redhead. Of all the Scooby’s Willow and Tara had been the ones who had helped him the most. When he had returned with his soul in tact they had accepted him, no questions asked. Now it seemed it was his turn to lend support, help guide Willow through the wilderness in which she now found herself lost.
“Come on. Let’s get you out of here.” Turning to leave he stopped. “Don’t worry we won’t go back to Buffy’s. You’re coming back to my crypt.”

Back at the Summers residence, Xander and Anya had arrived shortly after Spikes departure. After being caught up on what had just happened, the Scooby’s had set about analysing the ritual that the lover’s had used and trying to figure out what exactly it meant and what their next step would be.
Not for the first time Anya became fixated on the one little detail of the ritual that she found fascinating. Glaring at Xander for what seemed to him the longest minute of his life, Anya turned back to Tara. “You actually had sex for two days? That’s forty eight hours of orgasms.”
Once again blushing under Anya’s questioning Tara simply nodded her head.
Oh God. They just had to find out. Anya just had to find out. Willow, where are you? It will be alright, I promise. “We weren’t doing it the whole time.”
Anya snorted. “Yeah right. I’ve always had my suspicions about you two. I bet you go at it like little fluffy bunnies. Morning, noon and night. All with the orgasms.”
Blushing once again Tara lowered her head.
Something like that.Looking up into Anya’s expectant face Tara was saved by the bell, as the telephone started to ring.
Moving to the phone and snatching up the receiver before anyone else had time to move Buffy listened as Spike explained that he had found Willow and was taking her somewhere safe. “She needs to feed so I’ll take care of it and get her some blood. We’ll get there when she’s ready, maybe tomorrow night.”
Hanging up the phone, Buffy related the conversation to everyone else, her heart aching as she saw unshed tears shimmer in Tara’s eyes.

It was almost two weeks since Spike had taken Willow back to his crypt. Almost two weeks since Willow had seen any of the Scooby’s. Spike had encouraged her to see her friends but with a stubbornness that he had only seen glimpses of before she refused to step foot inside of any of their houses or the Magic Box.
After calling Buffy, Spike and Willow had gone to the redhead’s dorm room and collected her stuff. After all dead girls can’t go to college. In the days that followed Willow took up residence at Spike crypt. At first Spike hated the idea of sharing his home, but as the days went by he quite enjoyed the constant company that the redhead offered.
He even had Clem and a few other demons he knew help him change the place around. The “living” area was still above ground, but now when you descended the ladder to the underground section it was divided into two parts which the new room mates used as their own person spaces.
Willow herself seemed to have adjusted to her new way of life, although Spike still often found her staring off into space, lost in some other place where things were different. She had researched for a full week, trying to find as much information as she could. All that she had come up with was that it seemed the joining ritual was the reason she had a soul and that as far as she could tell it was there to stay, no happy clause. Nothing she found helped to satisfy the empty restlessness that had settled over her. It didn’t help that her thoughts were constantly filled with images of Tara and what this would mean for her love in the future.
Emerging from downstairs Spike breezed over to where Willow was sitting on one of the couches. “Come on bird, we’re going out.” Before she had a chance to decline Spike reached down, grabbed her by the wrist and heaved her to her feet. “No getting out of it. I’ve got a surprise for you.”
Reluctantly following the blonde vampire Willow soon found herself standing in front of one of Sunnydales adult shops. “Errr Spike. Thanks, but I’m not thinking this is the kind of surprise I’m after.”
“Come on Red, it’s not what you think. Trust me.”
Going against her better judgement, Willow entered. Following Spike, Willow found herself slipping through the door to the back of the store where Spike was greeted enthusiastically by a large woman who must have been at least sixty years old.
As Willow found herself engulfed in a warm hug she threw a questioning look Spikes way. “You’re here to get some decent clothes love. Thelma here is going to help us work on your image.”
As Thelma stepped back, Willow had a chance to have a good look around the room. Taking up all the available space was every imaginable piece of clothing. All of it made from leather.
“No way, I’m not wearing leather. I’ll look like a skanky ho.”

Buffy double checked her weapons and slipped out of the front door. Moving to sit on the bench beside Tara she let the other blonde linger in her own thoughts for a few more minutes before speaking. “So how is Tara today?”
The Scooby’s had spend days researching, trying to figure out where they stood and what they should do about Willow. Eventually it had been pushed aside as Amy and her followers began causing more and more trouble.
Since the night Willow was turned Tara had been distant. Holding back from her friends as she tried to come to terms with all that had happened. She wished with all her heart that Willow would talk to her, even if it was to let her know how she was going. Buffy had told her to wait, let Willow adjust but that wasn’t good enough for Tara anymore. She needed to see Willow, needed to hold her and tell her it would be ok.
“I can’t do it anymore Buffy. It hasn’t even been two full weeks yet and it feels like an eternity since I saw her.”
Nodding Buffy put her hand on Tara’s shoulder. “Well how about we go out on patron and on the way back we’ll pay Willow a little visit.”
They all knew that Willow was staying with Spike. He hadn’t told them directly, but during the few times they had seen him since that night he had dropped enough hints for even Buffy to figure it out.

Patron had proved to be quite eventful with approximately a dozen vampires meeting their dusty end. As Buffy and Tara reached Spikes crypt both women became more than a little nervous. “Should we knock or just go in?”
Buffy shrugged and pushed open the outer door, entering first to make sure the coast was clear.
At first they thought that the place was empty, but as they got further in they could hear the TV. Making their way to where a couple of old couches sat they found Spike dozing in front of the TV. Looking around they couldn’t see any sign of Willow but they heard her voice as she yelled from a distance. “Spike, I’m still not too sure about this.”
Pointing to the ladder that led underground Buffy shrugged. “She must be down there.” Tara nodded, making her way to the ladder without looking back.
As she reached the ground Tara looked around as her eyes adjusted to the darkness. Off to the right she could see an entry at the end of a narrow hall, soft light shining through the open door.
Making an educated guess Tara walked to the doorway and came to halt, her eyes opening wide and her mouth falling open. Standing in the middle of what was obviously a bedroom stood Willow, dressed from head to bare feet in leather.
Dear mother earth, I think I’m going to faint.Willow looked up at the faint noise and squeaked. “Tara!!”
Oh God. Tara’s here and I’m all dressed up looking like a cheap ho. For a second the thought of taking the leather off came to mind but she soon dismissed it, especially as she didn’t think standing in front of Tara in her underwear would be any better.
“Tara you shouldn’t be here. For your own good you should stay away from me. I’ll only hurt you again. Even with a soul I’m still evil.”
That temporarily snapped Tara out of her lust filled Willow thoughts. “Stay away for my own good. How can staying away from you be any good to me? The past months away from you have proved that it’s not.” Moving closer to Willow, Tara’s anger began to surface. “How can you pass judgement on yourself when you helped us escape that night. Got Dawn and the rest of us out of there.”
* * * *
Buffy sat down on one of the couches as she listened to Willow and Tara fight. As their voices got louder Spike finally woke up. “Bloody hell, keep the noise down will ya, I’m trying to watch telly.” As he sat up he finally noticed Buffy. “Bloody hell, scare a man to death.”
Buffy just shrugged as she settled in to wait for Tara. “So you think they’ll be awhile?”
Spike nodded. “They’ll fight like cat and dog and then screw each other’s brains out.”
Wrinkling her nose Buffy threw a cushion at Spikes head. “They will not. Not everything is about sex.”
