Title: Massages
Spoilers: None
Summary: Willow is injured in a fight and goes to Tara who is a magical healer for help.
Rating: It's pretty clean for now but we will see how it goes
Chapter 1:
Willow uncertainly separated the beaded curtain and walked through the doorway into the doctor’s office. “Doctor’s office,” she thought incredulously, “ It looks like this is Miss Cleo’s office.” As she limped further into what she supposed was the waiting room she wondered how Giles had convinced her to come here instead of the hospital. As she surveyed the décor which was mostly covered in mystic signs and looked like that of a tarot reader she thought back to her injury the night before. Buffy was flipping a vamp over her shoulder and trying to help Xander defend himself from a second by kicking it in the face. Some how they had ended up on top of one of those creepy mausoleums as usual trying to retrieve some powerful amulet from some group of pointy-toothed pale guys bent on world destruction. “And I thought this year was going to be different from high school,” Willow sighed to herself as she tried to remember what happened next. She remembered a guy grabbing her from behind and pulling, then the side tomb, then the night sky then nothing. After she had come to Buffy and Xander had carried her back to Giles’ apartment and tried to explain that she had been flung off the roof. Apart from the fact that her back was incredibly stiff and the fact that she had a hard time walking and could barely move her arms she was going to be alright. However there was no way that she was going to spend the first week of her college experience in a hospital bed so when she had said she would just go and refuse to spend the night Giles had referred her here instead. Giles said that a friend of his had gone there and that the healing process was greatly sped up. He said that instead of trying to simply use a spell to heal the injury, which was unreliable at best and could cause other long-term consequences that she should use this new healer who practiced magic along with massage and traditional medicine. After some convincing Willow had agreed to go to the next town over the following afternoon and sleep had only made her more stiff if that was possible. She shook her head trying to clear it off all the memories and make her sleepy self more aware.
As she did she winced. “Note to self: OW!” she said to no one in particular, however at that exact moment a blonde in a somewhat flowing light blue robe came around the corner. “Hi! My name is Tara and you must be Willow. Mister Giles has already called and told us that you would be coming in today and that you fell off a building while working with the Slayer,” said the blonde with a manner which set Willow more at ease and quieted all of the inner monologue that had been singing that song about the witch doctor. “First of all Giles tells me that you have had experience with magic and spell casting so I believe that this will work better if you help. What we are going to do first is figure out which areas we need to concentrate on. From here I would say the first problem is going to be your arms and upper back especially if you are a fighter.”
Willow at once tried to correct her, “Oh not me, I am not a big bad monster fighter. I am more of a big bad monster hider from.” Tara smiled at the cute babble that was coming from this unsure red head. She could tell she wasn’t going to mind spending the large amount of time needed to completely heal the injury with her.
Once her smile had faded and Willow’s babble had trailed off Tara teased, “I am sure you weren’t trying to hide on top of a crypt in the grave yard, but I will try to believe you anyway.” Then she continued, “Anyhow now that we know what our first priority is the way that I work as a healer is that I give you some of my healing power by focusing it through you and then you use it in combination with your own energy and visualize the bones and muscles in that area until you can clearly see the state they are in. You then start to visualize them reordering themselves so that bone fragments rejoin the bone and muscle tissues fix tears. It takes a lot of energy to work properly so we will need a lot of sessions but you won’t have to deal with physical therapy and pain medicines, which can take time and concentration away from your studies. While we do this I will also use massage and other things to try and hurry up the healing process.”
“Hmm doesn’t sound like it should be that hard to work on. Let’s give it a try,” said Willow excited by the prospect of not needing to take any pills that were going to make her too loopy to rewrite her notes using her system of different colored pens. With that they went back to a room with a massage table. Other than that it looked nothing like a typical massage room. The floors and walls were covered in protection and healing spells, but they weren’t obvious they were lightly sketched onto the otherwise burgundy walls. The ceiling was a scene of the night sky and was covered in stars, although none of the constellations looked familiar. She shook her head and wondered what else the fall had affected when she realized that one constellation looked like a big pineapple and another looked like a short man looking uncomfortable. Among the stars painted on the ceiling there was a net of tiny fairy lights on an almost invisible net of wires hanging from the four corners of the room. Tara stepped out of the room to allow Willow to take off her clothes and get situated face down on the table. When Tara returned Willow was looking at the carpet, as that was the only thing that she could see through the face hole in the table.
Tara lit some incense and turned on a sound system playing some relaxing instrumental music. Instantly Willow felt very relaxed feeling settling over her body. She wondered what was causing that as neither one of them had cast a spell yet. As if she had asked out loud Tara responded, it’s the music. Underneath the classical music is a track of me reading spells that help you relax and promote healing. I have found that needing to constantly chant can disturb some clients concentration and that this method works much better. If you like it I can give you a copy to listen to when you are at home. Much of what we are going to do today is stuff that you can work on when you have down time and that will help cut down your recovery time.” Then Willow smelled and heard the mixing of some ingredients. Tara explained, “This is a special lotion that will help speed the healing process. Now I am going to apply it to your back and start the massage. As soon as I touch you our energy will be connected and you can start visualizing and healing yourself. Just let me know when you are ready to stop.”
With that Tara squirted some of the lotion into her hands and Willow took a deep breath waiting for the touch of Tara’s hands on her back and the healing to begin.
