Chapter One
Giles sighed as he watched Willow. She was sitting looking out of the window at the countryside. Anyone else looking at her would think she was a normal, beautiful girl. But Giles knew different. She was a murderer, and a dark magic addict.
She had changed so much from the shy bookish girl he had known. Her confidence had grown increasingly when she met Tara. It was the first time she had ever been able to experience loving someone and truly being loved in return. Tara had been her world.
But then Tara had her mind sucked, and Willow was alone again. That was when she got her first real taste of Dark Magic. Things went from bad to worse. Willow restored Tara’s mind, but Buffy was forced to sacrifice herself to save the world. Willow’s life was turned upside down. She didn’t have time to really grieve for her best friend, because she was push into the leadership role.
She had had to deal with everyone else’ pain. Tara’s pain at what she went through when she lost her mind, Xander’s pain at losing his best friend and the first woman he ever loved, Giles’s pain at losing his slayer and his surrogate daughter, Dawn’s pain at losing her sister, and Spike’s pain at losing the only person he truly cared about.
During the months that Buffy was dead, Willow had to be a sister, a mother, a girlfriend, a best friend, and a leader.
Giles, Xander and Spike all kept their pain to themselves, Tara was still in shock about what happened to her, Dawn was too young, and Anya…well, Anya just wasn’t the sort of person you had as a leader. So that left Willow to take care of everybody.
She and Tara had moved into the Summers home and were taking care of Dawn. Things were hard. Too hard, so Willow discovered a way of making things better. She knew a way to bring Buffy back.
The only people she told were the people she needed to help her, Tara, Xander and Anya. They preformed the resurrection spell and brought Buffy back. Although Willow was back out of the leadership role, she felt more powerful then she had ever done in her life. She felt like there was so much more she could do with her power.
However, Tara didn’t have the same attitude. She felt that Willow was abusing her power, using it for things she didn’t need to. They fought and Willow cast a forgetting spell on Tara. Their relationship was great for a while afterwards, until Tara found out about Willow’s deceit. Although Tara stayed for a few more days after she found out, she was just waiting for the inevitable. She had to leave Willow, and she did.
If Tara thought things would get better for Willow after she left, she was wrong;, very wrong. Willow's abuse of magic got worse. She brought back Amy from being a rat into being a human again. Amy took her to Rack, a warlock. Willow let him do what he wanted with her and her magic. She took Dawn with her one night, and injured them both. That was when she first realised she had a problem, and with the help of her friends she gave up magic.
Then Tara came back to her. They were together for two wonderful days before disaster struck. Tara was murdered. Not by a vampire, not by a demon, and not by a warlock. By a man. With a gun.
Willow tried to bring Tara back, but couldn’t because she was killed by a human machine. She lost all control, and used more dark magic then she ever had.
She tortured and murdered Tara’s killer, she killed Rack, she nearly killed Giles, she attacked Buffy and Dawn, and she tried to kill Warren and Andrew. It was when she was trying to end the world that Xander was able to save her.
And now here she was; a shell of her former self. She only ate when she was made to, and she never spoke unless she was spoken to. Giles knew there was no cure for what she was feeling. She would feel like this until the day she died and she was finally reunited with her beloved Tara.
Giles turned and walked back into the other room where the leader of the coven, Louise, was sitting mediating.
“How is she?” Louise asked without opening her eyes.
Giles sighed, “she the same. She’s just staring into space.” He answered.
“This was what we expected Rupert. She has lost her reason for living; she may never be the same as she was. If she stays like this much longer all we can offer her is a comfortable existence until she dies.” Louise said.
“I’m not going to let that happen. She’s too much of an amazing human to waste the rest of her life.” Giles said.
“Yes, well, there may be an answer to all of this.” Louise said.
“What do you mean?” Giles asked.
“Well, I have been consulting with other covens, and the final battle is coming, you know that. The first will soon be making himself known.” Louise began.
“And?” Giles asked.
“And Willow is needed in the final battle. We need her to be able to cast again, if we wish to survive. We need to save her from what she has become.” Louise answered.
“Yes, but the only thing that can bring Willow back to the way she was would be Tara.” Giles said.
Louise sighed. Although she frowned upon taking souls out of heaven, there was no other choice, She would never agree to it for selfish reasons, but the fate of the world depended on Willow being able to cast.
“Then we will have to bring Tara back.”
To Be Continued.
