The Best Part Of Ballet…

Author: hot monkey love 66

Email/Feedback: monkeyluv662003@yahoo.com; I would love feedback, seeing as this is my first fic, yes… I know! Aah! So, if you would, feedback on how to further the story/make it better/or stop now and run away, that’d be great! Thanks!

Disclaimer: The characters have been created by Joss Whedon, Mutant Enemy, and its affiliates. I do not own them in any way, although I’d like to… This story does belong to me, but if you’d like to put it in a different archive, ask, and ye shall receive… This story is solely for entertainment purposes, and I expect no money or anything else from them… I think that covers it. And it happens to be about a f/f relationship, if you don’t like that, well… leave quickly now!

Spoilers: None except the characters, but that’s not a spoiler… so none…

Angst: None really, possibly a tiny bit later on, but it all depends on how it goes…

Summary: Willow’s a famous dancer who lives in N.Y.C.; Tara’s a dance instructor for beginners in the city. Willow must go back to the city to supervise a beginner’s dance class and it just so happens to be Tara’s…

Ratings: PG-13~NC-17 ~**probably**

Author’s Notes: The characters appear as they do in season 6, Faith from Season 7, and everything else (changes) will be explained. Other than that, it’s all AU. And the ABC is the American Ballet Company.

“Willow, wake up… Willow!”

Willow was broken out of her peaceful state abruptly looking into the chocolate brown eyes of one of her best friends. “Great goddess! What is your problem Faith???” Willow replied irritably.

“Damn girl, sorry, but I’ve been trying to wake you up for the past ten minutes, the plane’s about to land, and may I mention, you sleep like a log!”

“Sorry, Faith! It’s just, you know, I haven’t slept in weeks, and thank goddess we’re back home again finally!”

Willow had been working around the clock, traveling for the past three weeks around the states doing photo shoots for posters, and practicing her dance steps for her group at the A.B.C.’s new ballet, and Faith, being one of the kindest and best female friends Willow had in her busy life, offered to go with her, just to keep her company of course. And finally, they were home.

“How long have I been sleeping?” Willow asked, rubbing the sleep out of her still groggy, emerald eyes.

“Oh, not long, just since the plane took off!” Xander replied, laughing as he took he seat behind Willow and Faiths’.

Xander had also offered to come with Willow on this trip, but his reason was to strictly limited to searching for a date to Willow’s ballet, even though he had convinced her it was for the greater good.

“Geez, Will, and we wanted to let her take those Nyquil?” Xander joked to Willow and Faith.

“Sorry guys, but hey, look, we’re home and I can finally get my sleeping schedule back on track, so yay for both of us and no more grumpy Willow, just happy, refreshed, and energized Willow!” Willow told them giddily, but stopped herself before she broke out into full-on babble mode.

Soon, the plane was landing smoothly onto the landing ramp of New York City’s busiest airport.

As they got off the ramp from first class, they saw their limo waiting with the driver waiting patiently to open their door. They happily jumped in, Faith literally, through the window as Willow and Xander looked on stifling their laughter as the driver awkwardly (tried to) close the door, trying not to crush Faith’s dangling feet as he did so.

-------------------------------------------------------

“One and two, three and four, five and six, and seven and eight. One and two, three and four, five and six, and seven and eight. Okay people, one more time and then we can break for the day.” The instructor told the dancers as many various cheers were heard from the tired, sweaty dancers throughout the overheated and ripe smelling dance auditorium.

The dancers finished their pirouettes one by one in front of the mirrored wall as the instructor watched them carefully, pointing out mistakes and perfection, and moved on to exit the room, each yelling their various goodbye’s and see you tomorrow’s to the instructor as she sat down in the back of the room on her padded fold-up chair and began to towel her sweat drenched forehead and neck on a wet towel.

As all the new students left, Tara began mumbling to herself about how much harder this new job was after all. She had just graduated college with a major in ballet, and a minor in English.

“Should’ve been an English teacher.” She half-joked as she began to massage the lower muscles of her back through her shirt.

“Oh well, it’ll be easier once we get that new supervisor tomorrow.” She said as she began to search through her bag finally grasping what she was looking for, the sheet of paper with her class’s itinerary and the contact information for the new supervisor.

As she pulled the paper out of her bag, she noticed the big marked letters at the top of the paper, highlighting the name “Willow Rosenberg” signed at the top.

“Willow Rosenberg…?” Tara thought aloud. “Where have I heard that name before?” Tara briefly thought before placing the papers back in her bag before deciding to clean up and head back home to call Buffy and Anya’s place and tell them about her first day on the job.

hope ya liked it!... part 1 to be posted soon!! im tired! lol :yawn

Author’s Notes: The characters appear as they do in season 6, Faith from Season 7, and everything else (changes) will be explained. Other than that, it’s all AU. And the ABC is the American Ballet Company.

Willow was awakened from what she considered to be one of the best “sleep filled” nights of her life by a strange twitching in her nose. She sat up for a moment, her eyes still closed, hiding her sparkling green eyes, in her queen sized bed, clad only in her large #66 football jersey with her alma mater written in huge bold print letters on the back. Once that familiar smell permeated itself from her nose to her brain, she was already wide awake, running out of her bedroom screaming for Xander to wake up. When she reached the kitchen, she saw exactly what she had learned to fear ever since she was just a little girl growing up in Sunnydale…Faith standing in an apron over the stove. Willow cautiously approached the kitchen, afraid of what she might find hidden in front of Faith’s muscular frame.

Before she could get any closer, Faith called out to her, “Geez, Red, what’s got you so wicked stressed, I let you sleep while the Xan man and I went out to get the three of us some breakfast and I, being the great pal that I am…” she nudged Willow’s arm, as the poor redhead remained confused. ”Decided to reheat your pancakes, while you, may I add, SO unkindly, threaten to wake up everyone in The Upper East Side??” She asked, jokingly to a still dazed Willow.

“Huh? Oh, sorry, faith, I just thought that you were… um, in trouble, or um… so pancakes?” Willow covered, who was she to tell Faith that she had horrible cooking? All those years in dance tech and extra classes in Tai Chi and Tae Kwon Doe told everyone to steer clear of Faith.

By then, Xander was already walking into the spacious three bedroom loft apartment’s kitchen with the rest of the food and set it onto the counter while questioning Willow about the yelling.

“Great goolgy mooglies, Will, I could hear ya from the car! Does Faith’s assumed cooking make you that terrified? It hasn’t killed anyone… yet” he added in a quiet voice so only Willow could hear, but Faith was always known for her great hearing, among other things, so she gave him a light punch on the arm as the three began to eat, each making their separate apologies.

-------------------------------------------------

Tara awoke to the sound of what she thought were birds singing to wish her a good morning, and the rising sunlight warming her face, but as she slipped further into consciousness, she realized that instead of the sun and birds, it was cars already fighting for superiority in one of New York’s busiest streets in the morning, and that it wasn’t the sunlight, it was one of her best friends, Anya shining one of Tara’s flashlights right in her face, making Tara squint and turn her head.

“Anya, how did you get into my house, and why are you shining a flashlight in my face???” Tara yelled at one of her two best friends, and then realized that the flashlight in question was her missing flashlight. “And where did you find my flashlight, and again WHY are you here?

Tara was usually happy to see either of her best friends, but not when she was waking up from one of the best nights of her life (sleep wise). Anya and Tara had been best friends with each other in college when Tara shared a dorm room with Anya’s current best friend, Buffy. After four years, the three of them had become best friends and shared everything with each other.

“Where’s Buffy and why haven’t you answered any of my questions yet??” Tara asked Anya irritably.

“Well, Buffy woke me up this morning, with her “cooking”, and I remembered that you let me borrow your “flashlight” last year, so I decided to get out of the house before she could make me eat seconds, and return it back to it’s rightful owner.” She said with a giant smile, glad that she did a good deed.

“And why are you still sleeping? Its 11 a.m.! Why are you not out working? I have been out for two hours making precious money in the real world, while you were here watching all of that glorious money just floating away in dreamland!”

Anya had graduated with a Master’s degree in business from N.Y.U. and had started her own business: a casual restaurant in one of the better parts of town. The restaurant, Anya’s Café, didn’t open until 4:00 p.m., but Anya always went in the morning to make sure everything was cleaned up and ready for that night’s customers. Anya had learned to love money, since her family was always struggling for it, and they were so happy when Anya received a full scholarship to N.Y.U.

“Well, I was so tired yesterday, Anya!!” she yelled to let the girl know that she wasn’t too happy with Anya breaking her out of her sleep. “that, I didn’t think to set the alarm, because I was going to sleep late, but I guess not! And, my class doesn’t start until late afternoon.”

“Okay, great.” Anya replied not even noticing that Tara was being sarcastic with her. “Buffy and I are going shopping today, and now, you are too! But don’t worry, we’ll get you back before your class, Buffy and I want to see you teach idiot children how to dance!” Anya told her genuinely sincere, or so she thought.

“Anya! Once again, they are beginners, not idiots, and they have only had one class so far, so if either of you laugh or point, or do anything like that at all, well, you won’t be able to come to any more of my classes, and I’ll make Buffy cook for you everyday!

Anya and Tara were the better of the chefs of the threesome, and Buffy’s cooking, just… well, it just wasn’t talked about unless it was Halloween and someone needed a good scare.

“So, you’re going shopping though right? I need new lingerie. And Buffy said she needs something called, “Mr. Pointy” whatever the hell that is…” Anya said with a roll of her eyes, and an exasperated sigh.

“Yeah, sure, Anya I’ll come, I could use a refresher, those kids are gonna need a lot of work !” Tara replied with a smirk.

-------------------------------------

After the shopping “extravaganza”, the three ladies strolled through the streets of New York to the dance studio on Park and 54th hand in hand in hand headed towards The Art Of Ballet Dance Studio.

--------------------------------------

30 minutes into the class, Anya and Buffy were trying (and failing miserably) to suppress their giggles as Tara helped a new, female dancer with her turnout. Tara was maneuvering the girls legs apart, her hands on the younger girls calves, and as she moved up the new students body, she noticed a beautiful redheaded woman staring through the window at her, before quickly turning away and continuing down the busy sidewalk. Tara continued to stare into the space where the “most beautiful woman she’d ever seen” was just standing, before realizing all of the noise in the large studio had stopped and she noticed all eyes were on her.

“Sorry, guys, I was just, uh… um” Tara struggled to find an adequate excuse before Anya decided to fill in the blanks.

“She was just checking out that hot redhead girl as she walked by, let’s just be glad she’s not drooling yet.” She told the students , a laughing Buffy, and a blushing Tara.

--------------------------------------

Willow was walking down the street whistling to the tune to “The Sound of Music” on the way to the beginners dance class she was to supervise before she and the groups had their first performance when she spotted a goddess in one of the many windows on a building on 54th street. Or at least she looked like a goddess, she was blond, beautiful, and had the body of a goddess. She was helping a young dancer with her turnout and Willow involuntarily wished at that moment that she was that dancer. Then she cursed her mind for wandering from “The Sound of Music” to the sounds of sex… and the beautiful girl standing not 100 feet away from her. It looked as if the blond haired goddess looked deep into her eyes and into her soul, before the redhead turned away and went to find her new dance studio for the next few months or so, or at least until she and the dance teacher whipped these beginners into shape for the big performance. Now, where in the frilly heck is The Art Of Ballet Dance Studio??

Heh, I like how both Faith's and Buffy's cooking is feared in silence :) . Good to see both Tara and Willow have friends around, interesting that Faith is with Willow and Tara with Buffy, interesting change as I would usually expect Willow being with Buffy... ah well.

So everybody who walks by that studio can look in and see Tara practice , ehh ? Must be a busy street indeed : -->>: . Is it me or is Willow really 30 minutes late for that session, or is she supposed to come in later ?? Tara will be all sweaty when Willow arrives, such a shame... :-)

The Best Part Of Ballet… (2/??)

Willow continued down the street, temporarily distracted by the beautiful blonde she saw helping a young dancer with her turnout, trying to find the dance studio she was to be supervising at for the next few months or so. She had now been looking for about an hour, and no way was she gonna call Faith or Xander for directions. She had been “living” in the city now for about six months on and off, with traveling and such. Her friends always teased her about her horrible sense of direction, and she was not gonna let them have this one!

“Where in the frilly heck is it???” Willow asked herself for around the millionth time. She needed to be there an hour ago and the class was only an hour and a half. She looked up and down the street numerous times for the next twenty minutes before deciding to give up, go home, and ask her agent later, not Faith or Xander.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tara finished up the dancers critiquing a male dancer named Nicholas on his pirouettes before turning back to her bag making sure that the supervisor…”Willow?” she asked herself… “Pretty name, like a tree, a Willow tree, huh...”was supposed to be at the studio today. “Oh well, I’ll call Mr. Giles later and ask him about it.” She packed up her stuff and walked out the studio’s double doors, thinking of that cute redhead she saw through the window earlier in the class.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ring…Ring…Ring…Ring…Ring… The phone continued to drone on its constant never-changing melody as Willow waited for her agent, Jenny to pick up her cell phone. She hung up and called up again. Ring…Ring…Ring…Ring…Ring… The answering machine cut on telling her to leave a message but she decided against it, reminding herself she didn’t believe in them, Jenny knew that too so she wouldn’t think to ask her. Willow had her quirks and everyone accepted that, even Willow. She realized that she wasn’t going to get an answer and decided to call the owner of The Art of Ballet Dance Studio, Mr. Giles and ask him for directions.

Five minutes later she had called and gotten thorough directions to find the spot, address, and other information that would show her where the dance studio was from the kind Englishman named Rupert Giles. She decided to just get herself a mocha from Starbucks and just relax and have a movie night with Faith and Xander for the rest of the night, telling herself that she would get to the studio early to avoid any kind of possible lateness from her. “Nope, lateness is next to badness, and I am not one for the badness, no-siree, nuh-huh, I will be on time tomorrow to supervise and exercise or else badness will ensue and then I will have no happy goodness for me, nope, no more happy goodness for Willow…” She stopped herself thinking. “I even babble in my head! Geez! I seriously need to stop that!”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tara had just gotten off the phone with Mr. Giles, her agent when there was a knock at the door to her apartment. He had told her that Ms. Rosenberg, Tara preferred to say “Willow” had called a few hours ago and informed him that she couldn’t find the studio but he gave her thorough instructions so she would definitely be there the next day, or so she said.

Rupert Giles had been a close friend of Tara’s and her family’s ever since she was a little girl. He had been like a second father to her and she loved him dearly. He had been a dancer in his earlier years in the U.K. and now he owned a top dance studio in the better part of New York City.

“One second!” Tara half-screamed towards the unknown figure behind the door as she slid on her slippers on her way to answer the door. “Hurry up! I need to pee, now!” She heard Anya yell at her in complete seriousness. She giggled as she opened the door to find Anya pushing past her and leaving Buffy waving meekly asking Tara, “Girl’s night in? We come with caffieney and buttery goodness!” Buffy told her holding up a 2-Liter bottle of soda and a box of popcorn packets. “Yum! Come on in Buff.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Well guys, I’m off to get to sleep, I’ve gotta wake up tomorrow and find the dance studio in the morning so I know where it is before class.” Another quirk, Willow told them with a big yawn. “Okay, night Willster.” Replied Xander. “Later Red, sweet dreams!” Faith told her with a wink, knowing Willow ALWAYS had dreams that had either strange or sexual connotation to them. Another of Willow’s quirks was the fact that she mumbled in her sleep, conveying just what or who she was currently dreaming about. Willow just nodded and smiled sarcastically at her friend before grabbing her blanket and heading towards her bedroom. Her friends had realized that Willow hadn’t made it to her class earlier that day when she came home looking exactly the same, not smelling like sweat or babbling on about how great the class was or how much she taught the beginning dancers or what the teacher was like.

She laid down in her warm bed in her pink monkey pajamas and curled up under the warm covers that made her feel so at home. She was still getting her sleep back in order so she knew that she would fall asleep just moments after her head hit the pillow. But tonight, she just couldn’t seem to get the goddess-like blonde beauty she saw in the window earlier that day, and eventually drifted off to sleep with still-lingering thoughts of the blonde remaining in her mind.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Willow woke to the sounds of J-Jazz in the morning on her radio wafting through her ears softly. She smiled to herself remembering her dreams that occurred during the night before which just so happened to have a starring romantic lead that just so happened to be the “blonde dancing goddess” from yesterday. As she continued to regain consciousness, and travel further into the real world, she noticed that one of her hands was currently inside her pink pajama pants and her underwear and lodged between her legs trapped in a warm, wet heat. She giggled to herself guiltily reminiscing about her dreams from last night. “Whoopsee, guess that was a good dream…” Willow told herself wiping her moist digits on the bedcovers. She could smell her arousal and began to let her thoughts linger around the blonde girl again as her hand once again traveled down her stomach heading towards copper curls when…

“Yo! Red! Wake Up! You were supposed to be finding your dance studio remember? Or were your dreams about some blonde still haunting you? You must’ve been pretty scared, Xand and I could hear ya screaming ALL night for some girl with blonde hair!” Faith so subtly yelled at her through the door, making damn well sure that the entire fifth floor heard what was going on in loft E-2. “Yeah, um, Thanks Faith, I’ll be out in a minute!” Willow replied, her face going as red as her hair as she tool her hand from its again warm, moist haven between her legs guiltily as she wondered if she actually went “all out” in her dream/ in real life.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Willow Rosenberg was once again walking down 54th street, but this time with a detailed map with instructions on how to get to the studio and one of her best friends on her left arm. Xander had to go to work that morning at the Pizza Parlor restaurant on 106th. “Well, according to these directions, it should be right…” Before she could finish, Faith interrupted her with a “Oww….” Sound “Geez, Red look at blondie here, quite a body she’s got there, eh Will? This wouldn’t just so happen to be your little moanin’ buddy from your dreams last night, would it?” Faith completely joked to “Red” with a wink and a nod towards a blonde woman practicing ballet alone in a window on 54th. Willow looked to where Faith was nodding and her breath caught in her throat, realizing that Faith was completely right and the woman she was gazing at was the woman she saw yesterday but today instead of teaching dancers, she herself was dancing and prancing across the room with the grace of a… Well, she couldn’t think of a graceful animal at the moment, because she was taken aback by the beauty in front of her. “Here.” She finished her previous thought as to where the studio was. The blonde girl—woman—was dancing in the exact studio where she was to supervise a class in, later in the day. She prayed to the goddess that this woman would still be there and then realized that Faith was still open-mouth staring at the woman and Willow feeling suddenly possessive of the girl grabbed Faith by the arm saying how she needed to learn to think with her brain.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tara caught sight of the two women as they were walking away and immediately recognized the redhead from the day and night before. Well, the dreams from the night before when she had been woken up this morning by “good Samaritan” Buffy who heard strange noises from Tara’s room, thinking she was having a nightmare or something. Little did she know that Tara was up, up and at ‘em, as they say.

The Best Part Of Ballet… (3/??)

Author: hot_monkey_love_66

Email/Feedback: monkeyluv662003@yahoo.com I would love feedback, seeing as this is my first fic, yes… I know!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Willow and Faith headed back home, stopping at the Pizza Parlor, and then Starbucks on the way home for edible sustenance. “So, Red, whatcha think about that blondie dancin’ back there at the studio?” “Shut up, Faith.” Willow responded, not letting her know that she was actually thinking about the dancing girl, but dancing together, and not really dancing, but using that as a metaphor. Two hours later, the duo was back at the apartment and finishing the last twenty minutes of The Sweetest Thing and the last bag of popcorn in the loft as Xander came home from the parlor, still in his “working man outfit”. “Hey Will, Faith, what you guys been up to today?” he asked. Before Willow could answer, Faith responded, “Well, I woke up Red here, while, I’m thinking she was “helping herself out with a little handball”, and we went out to find her dance studio for today and saw a hottie in a leotard prancin’ about that Red was practically droolin’ over” Faith put in with a laugh and a jab to Willow’s arm, earning her one of Willow’s oh-so-comical death-glares. “Then, we saw you, got caffeinated, and headed back to the crib to catch The Sweetest Thing. You?” Xander was still picturing Willow and a blonde dancer in “dancin’ positions when Faith’s voice broke him out of his dreamy reverie. “Huh, what, how?” Xander asked. “What did you do today?” Faith asked slowly so his oh-so-dirty mind could comprehend it easily. “Oh, you know, the usual, cooked, served, whatever’s needed to keep the paying customers of our country non-hungry… no those damn, “I’ll just have a water” chicks.” The girls laughed as he gave them his trademark, goofy smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tara finished her morning exercises at the dance studio and caught a cab home to shower, eat, and get ready for the afternoon’s class.

Ten minutes later Tara was opening the front door to her apartment, arms full of mail when suddenly there was a figure in front of her that startled her, enough to drop all of the mail in a heap on the floor and let out a tiny scream. “Oops, sorry Tare! I didn’t mean to scare you, it was just I wanted to know if you wanted to go out for lunch so I came by your apartment to ask you but you weren’t here so I used my spare key and I thought you would be here soon, but soon turned into an hour and I just remembered that you were going to be at the studio this morning exercising so I was headed out to go ask you from there and boom, here you are screaming because I scared you and did I mention that I’m sorry?” Buffy asked in one breath, hoping that the blonde wouldn’t be mad and giving her a sheepish smile. “No, Buffy, I was just surprised! Sure we can go out for lunch, just let me take a quick shower, and then we can head out. “Ok.” Buffy replied. “Just make yourself…” Tara did not get to finish when she realized Buffy had already made herself at home, leaving soda bottles, popcorn bags, and plates almost everywhere. “Um… I’ll just clean up while you’re taking that shower?” Buffy asked, hoping that the blonde wasn’t mad about that either. “Yeah, good plan.” Tara replied on her way to her bedroom to get a towel.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Well guys, I’m gonna have to take a shower and then head out to get to the studio soon.” Willow told her friends while putting away her coffee cup and straightening out the room. “But doesn’t your class thing start at 5:00 Will?” Xander asked. “Yea…” Willow replied not seeing the picture. “Its 3:00 Red.” Faith told her. “Oh!” Willow said as the clue-by-4 hit her. “Yeah, I know, but I wanna be there early and warm up, ya know, see if everything still works and bends the way it should.” Willow told them with an embarrassed grin to her friends for being so insane. “Well, why don’t ya try finding that hottie again? I’m sure she wouldn’t mind helping you work out the problems!” Faith told her with a wink. “Yeah, Faith, I’ll be sure to do that, once the monkeys start flying…” Willow said sarcastically while already on the way to her bedroom’s en-suite bathroom to shower.
Again, :kitty 's I am very sad I didn't make this as long as I had hoped, but it will be made up for!! :banana :eatme :banana Hopefully this will hold ya for a few daze! :wave :love :love :love
Lyrics
Postby SleaterKinneySound » Fri Oct 03, 2003 7:49 pm
Here are the lyrics to that Alison Krauss song:
Who would sell their soul for love?
Or waste one tear on compromise
Should be easy enough
To know a heartache in disguise
But the heart rules the mind
And the going gets rough
Pride takes the fall
When you find that kind of love
I can't help feeling like a fool
Since I lost that place inside
Where my heart knew its way
And my soul was ever wise
Once innocence was lost
There was not faith enough
Still my heart held on
When it found that kind of love
Though beauty is rare enough
Still we trust
Somehow we'll find it there
With no guarantee
It seems to me
At least it should be fair
But if it's only tears and pain
Isn't it still worth the cost
Like some sweet saving grace
Or a river we must cross
If we don't understand
What this life is made of
We learn the truth
When we find that kind of love
Cause when innocence is lost
There is not faith enough
We learn the truth
When we find that kind of love
(I love this song!):love
