Hey Debra! How are you?

You know, for some reason I have this image of you reading feedback, sitting in your chair slightly tipped back, arms across your chest, with a big ol' shit eatin grin on your face, chuckling to yourself, gloating, to put it mildly, at the way you're continuing to torture us mercilessly. Damn! You're good! :heart You know we're loving every minute of it.

So, Ira at least has a clue. He should go with his gut feeling. Their ideas for fixing up Willow are too funny. I can just picture her rolling her eyes too -- so Willow! And of course, gotta love Tara all glistening with perspiration. (swoon)

Willow finally lets herself think about her without the self flagellation, but oh, highly anticipating the time when it can be more than thought!

Keep up the great work!

i thought, oh, she must've been playing tennis

oh goodie, Ira already knows her,

from playing tennis with her,

so he'll probably invite her over.

and then yayness

but this isn't that fic.

:blush

it's getting bad :sigh

Like Wimpy I've got an image of you reading the feedback. However the way I picture you is sitting in the control center of your fortress of evil, wearing all black and stroking a white cat. You're wondering how long to go on before moving to the second stage of your diabolical scheme and making demands of us poor kittens.

"Well kittens, You're going to have to do something for me if you want any smoochies. I want to rob fort Knox, becuase if you don't Willow and Tara will never figure it out Mwahahaha"

damn you you evil mastermind. :devilish

*goes off and takes medication* That was a great update :applause

I have to wonder why if Ira could realise that Tara obviously isn't a student, then why can't Willow?

Looking forward to :read more

Had to smile at Willow giving in to at least think about Tara :) . It's also nice to see her talk friendly with her father and mother (in that order).

If my mother had called me at such a ungodly hour (no way she would :) ) it would likely have answered less friendly than Willow did :lol

Soooo Willow saw a sweaty Tara leaning over/against the counter. No wonder she can't stop thinking about her, heh.

Oh, Now I see, you want to play a little game of "driving us crazy."

I think now that the question of Tara being a teacher is out, don't you think that would start the wheels in Willow's mind turning? Being curious and all? She would go and investigate.

I think it would and I think you should. I'm not telling you what to write *cough* but *cough* you should *cough*

Oh my... I already see the next misunderstandings coming straight ahead.

Willow will be house-sitting.... Tara will be thinking Willow still lives at her parents....

I already see it happen...

But this part was really cute. Willow should listen to her parents more often... Especially to Ira!!!!

Good job Debra!!

Man, they really need to figure out that they are BOTH teachers, and go on a date!

About Willow's family....THEY ARE HILLARIOUS! Ira was stealing her food, Sheila was all proud, yet still hoping Willow would turn straight. Overall, very believable family image.

Keep up the good work!

Quote:
you mean it’s not ludicrous yet??? Wow, I must not be trying hard enough. Let’s try this…

Sorry to disappoint, but the W/T interactions still don't ring the chime on my ludicrous bell, though they do make me laugh (Hmm, I've just reread what I've written and I'm now wondering what a ludicrous bell looks like. Jaunty cap and a feather boa perhaps?) To my mind, it's still remotely plausible that two intelligent women could be engaged in this comedy of misidentification. It's not been very long since they've met and they're both primed to think of the other as a student and so they interpret all comments in ways that support what they "know" to be true. Never underestimate the willing blindness of people. You haven't yet taken this to the point where it's inconceivable that the W and T kittens know wouldn't figure out the score--and I trust that you won't. You've just taken it to the point of delicious torment. I'm having a good time.

(What I did find ludicrous, actually, was Sheila's inquiry into publishing. Public high school teachers, as a rule, don't publish academically [and I'm assuming that's what Sheila meant]. Their jobs aren't designed with research in mind. They teach too many classes and their workplaces don't provide the necessary infrastructure. In addition, most HS teachers aren't trained to conduct research. They're trained to teach. This is a small point, I know—a throwaway line in a neat little interaction between W and her folks. It's just that it was jarring enough to me to momentarily suspend my suspension of disbelief, so I thought I'd mention it. And then surround it with comments about how much I love this fic. Did I mention that I love this fic?

Re: School Days

Postby russ » Thu Jun 17, 2004 4:04 am

So Sheila is still somewhat "difficult" though perhaps less so than in other stories. Ira's quite likeable with the joking, the sneakiness, and the would-be matchmaking. (I'm guessing that's what "Bubbie" is?) Also he's considerably smarter than his daughter, seeing right away that Tara's a teacher, not a student.

Willow when nervous blushes and babbles; apparently Tara becomes patronizing. Spectacular? No wonder she's mentally kicking herself.

I've now officially given up on them ever getting together, and decided to enjoy the story as a comedy of errors. On the other hand, if Justin needs help with his Ft. Knox raising the bribe money project, I'm in.

Have a great weekend.

its funny that Willow's dad could figure out that Tara might be a teacher, yet Willow doesn't seem to agree.

i liked the interaction between Willow and her parents

Re: Argggggghhh!

Postby JustSkipIt » Mon Jun 21, 2004 1:02 pm

mollyig – Yeah, that’s Sheila but this is definitely a kinder gentler one. I don’t think that we see enough of the Tara internal dialog so I’m trying to add some more. Glad you liked that one. Thanks.

BARE1975 – Welcome and I’m glad you’ve liked my fics. Lol. Eventually is the key word here I think.

gabbles – Glad you are loving the anticipation.

veiled isis moon – Yeah, definitely cuter and cuter. Everyone knows they like each other; that’s not the point. Tee hee.

wimpy – You have that pretty much right. I love seeing the frustration in everyone’s comments and imagining it on your faces. One of the joys of my life. Yeah, Ira is clueful but not enough. Thanks.

her BRIGHTeyes – Thanks. I’m lol about mixing this up with Game of love. That happens to me sometimes.

Justin – Every time you comment, I find myself laughing uncontrollably and going to find Rachel and get her to read it. Well done. Although I’m allergic to cats so I’d be stroking a dog or a teddy bear…

Quote:
I have to wonder why if Ira could realise that Tara obviously isn't a student, then why can't Willow?
Well now… that would really ruin things wouldn’t it.

Romy – Woo hoo for crazy!

sammi – Thanks. Yeah, sometimes all it takes is to not be looking from the same perspective to see the truth.

Grimmy – Yeah, Willow’s definitely giving in. My father used to call us to say hello every Sunday at 7:00 and it drove my mother crazy. I don’t call anyone before 8:00 and that’s only if they have kids. No kids: more like 10:00 or later. Yeah, she’s definitely thinking about our favorite blonde.

LR – Yep, that’s my game. Yes, she’s curious and there will be some investigations. Good suggestion. Thanks.

Insanity – Good foresight. Thanks.

Arron CFF – Welcome. Glad you like it. They are great. He’s getting very active and playful. It’s darn hot but you know it’s not the heat; it’s the humidity.

BurningWhiteRose – Glad you liked the family and the lunch. Yeah, they should figure it out. I wonder if they will…

The Rose24 – I agree.

pipsberg – Thanks. Yeah, they’ll have to realize it soon.

BTW: posted feedback on RI this morning. I think it’s lovely so far.

MissKittys Ball O Yarn
Quote:
Dang sweetie! this is making me crazy!!!
Yeah! :bounce . That’s what I’m going for.

Thanks for the compliment but I think I’m still miles from Shakespeare. I’d say an update to AA!

babyblue So I’ve got to get more ludicrous. I’ll work on it but I’m glad to hear that it’s delicious torment.

I completely agree that Sheila’s inquiry is ludicrous but I don’t think it’s out of character for her. Keep in mind that their daughter graduated MIT if three years, probably publishing while there and that her parents see teaching as a “starter job.” So as ludicrous as I think the expectation is, I don’t think it’s inconceivable to believe that Willow’s parents would expect and encourage it. And from Willow’s side, she’s still an idealist. She’s not yet been beaten down by the low pay, long hours, and pointless administrative tasks. She still believes she can bring the love of learning to her charges and probably that she can publish new and better ways to build a mousetrap.

russ – Yes, I’d say that’s a good characterization of Sheila. She’s not evil—just self-involved and stubborn. Bubbie is an endearing term for a grandmother but more idiomatically a she’s very fond to the point of matchmaking, rubbing dirt off your cheek, or making you chicken soup when you’re sick. Lol that Tara becomes patronizing. Yes, I can see that. Glad you liked Justin’s idea. Cool, a robbery in the planning.

Shy One – Sorry about your head but glad of your frustration. Make sure you hit the desk and not the computer.

amazonaa – Thanks. Glad you like.

Arwen – Just starting? Wow, again I’m not trying enough I guess. Thanks for the compliment. Thanks.

Grimaldi – Thanks.

and the "feeling kinda bendy" line !!! holy frickin' hell!!! that's a classic. I can picture SMG delivering it with that little life of the eyebrows as she appraises Faith! if it had been on the show (as it should have been), it would be everyone's sig. as it is, it's even more BTVS than BTVS. perfect! perfectly evil! :)

TempestDuer – Well, you would think they would get those smarts wouldn’t you? But what fun would this story be if they did run into each other in the lounge?

lipkandy – Hey there. Always wonderful to see your id on my thread. I bow to the writer of my favorite fan story: Tempest Fugit S7

Nonetheless, I’m glad that you found and like the thread. Yes, my intention is to make everyone crazy. It’s quite fun. Interesting that everyone was so pleased with the bendy line. I had a very hard time with it, editing and re-editing. I didn’t think that I got it just right but since everyone loves it so much, I take the praise.

tarawhipped – A vote for stretching it out? Cool. Stretching it I am…

Shy One – Thanks. Yes, it will take a while. Glad you’re loving it.

Sharleen – Welcome. Glad you’re loving it and the other fics.
