~Part 34a~~*~*~*~*~*~*~
In the Summers bathroom, Faith splashed her face, cooling off after a full morning and half of the afternoon training.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in anything but leather pants.” Buffy said behind her, leaning against the doorframe. Locking her eyes on dark brown in the mirror, the blonde smiled softly.
“Well B, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen me in less.” Faith grinned wickedly, turning around to face Buffy. Looking down, she frowned at the pair of dark jeans she was wearing. “They do look… un-Faith like huh?”
“Um, actually no.” Buffy checked the dark slayer up and down with an approved grin. “I think you look really good.”
“Really?” Faith smiled, loving the effect she was having on the short blonde.
“Oh yeah.” Buffy moved closer and looked up at Faith. “So, Miss Faith…when is the date you promised me?”
Faith smiled and brushed Buffy’s upper arms with the backs of her fingers. “Tonight?” She rose a suggestive eyebrow. “I mean, we can go and grab dinner, maybe check out The Bronze, go for a walk…”
“Tonight?” Buffy smiled like a little girl getting ice cream on a hot day.
“Well yeah, we were suppose to go a while back, but then Tara and Willow have been dealing with the roughness of having Willow leave, so we put it off to spend time with them…I think tonight will be the perfect night…or will your mom make you stay home on a school night?” Faith finally wrapped her arms around Buffy’s neck.
“Well seeing as I’m not going to school until next semester begins, and it’s not a school night, I think it’s safe to say that we’re pretty much… safe.”
“Safe? Are you sure about that?” Faith backed Buffy up against the bathroom wall. “All things considered B…we both know that you and me… after patrol…together… it’s not safe at all.” Hot breath washed through Buffy’s ears.
Closing her eyes, Buffy swallowed before opening them back up and turned Faith around, pinning her up against the wall. “So we’re patrolling?” She asked.
“I believe it’s our duty, our life… it’s what we do as slayers and all.” Grinned the dark brunette, enjoying the feel of being trapped against the blondes body.
“Buffy? Faith?” Dawn peeked her head through the open door of the bathroom. “Ah, sorry…” She closed her eyes and stepped back into the hall.
“What is it?” Buffy asked, throwing a teasing gaze up and down Faiths upper chest.
Leaning against the wall, not knowing if Faith and Buffy would join her in the hall, Dawn sighed. “Where’s mom?” She asked.
“Out.” Came the reply.
“Tori and I were invited over to Lindsay’s for a sleepover, I was just wondering if I could go.” Dawn crossed her fingers.
Reluctantly pulling back, Buffy pressed herself away from Faith and stepped out into the hall with her sister. “Both you and Tori?” She asked.
“Yeah, Lindsay’s parents are out of town and she really doesn’t want to be there alone, so when we ran into her at the mall earlier, she invited us to spend the night with her.” Dawn explained calmly, only feeling guilty inside for lying.
“I thought Lindsay was Tori’s best friend…aside from you I mean.” Faith leaned against the bathroom door.
“She is…”
“Then why not just Tori?” Buffy asked in curiousity.
“Come on B…it’s pretty obvious, Tori and Dawn are attached by the hip.” Faith smirked. “And Lindsay and Dawn kick it pretty good.”
“Exactly.” Dawn breathed.
“Not buying it.” Buffy simply said. “I was your age once Dawn, you know how many times I’ve used that excuse?”
“Yeah, and it worked… besides, it’s not an excuse, Lindsay’s parents are really going out of town and Tori and I were invited to spend the evening.” Dawn straightened out her skirt.
“She’s not lying B.” Faith pitched in. “Granted she forgot to mention the other people that will be there.”
“Look Dawn, mom is out for the evening, I’m really not sure when she’ll back, but from what I know, she’ll be returning in the morning.” Buffy ran her fingers through her hair.
“Come on Buffy, you’re suppose to be like… cool sister… not another mother.” Dawn whined a bit. “How many times have I covered for you… and Faith. You can’t just restrict me from…”
“Hey!” Buffy frowned and stepped close to her younger sister. “You don’t throw that back in my face Dawn. I’ve done plenty for you… and I don’t find it a chore, I find it nice to be able to care for and love my younger sister. I let you get away with a lot; like sneaking in on a school night, one o’clock in the morning after ‘studying’ with your girlfriend, but I am not going to throw that back into your face because I know what it’s like… I know what you’re up too.”
“Then if you know what I am up too… why not let me go. I’ll be careful, I’ll stick by Tori’s side… please Buff?”
“I honestly think Tara won’t let Tori go…” Buffy crossed her arms over her chest.

“Please?” Tori begged sitting at the kitchen table. “Tara…” She pouted slightly.
“No.” Tara cleared the dishes off the table and placed them in the sink.
“That’s not fair.” Tori stood up and walked over to her sister. “How many parties have you been too at my age?”
“Parties?” Tara turned around slowly. “I thought you said it was just a sleepover…”
“Who was I kidding? You know when I lie, you see right through me, and besides, you already knew.” Tori threw her head back and groaned.
“Well, I never went to parties sweetie. I had a little girl to take care of, and a sister who was just on the verge of becoming a teenager.” Tara smiled a bit. “Not much time to party there.”
“So, you would’ve.”
“No, actually I think I would’ve been in college right now, working my ass off to support my family, try to maintain a good life for my loved ones. No, wait, I already do that.” Tara sighed and faced her sister. “Tori, you know what can happen at parties.”
“Yeah, we can have fun for one evening without facing the wrath of our parents nagging.” Tori never meant to sound harsh. “Oh Tara, I’m sorry.”
Looking straight into Tori’s eyes, Tara had no choice but to put the issue that was bothering her about this whole party thing. “Sit.” She ushered her sister to the kitchen table and chairs. “Tori, I love you, you have always been one of the most precious people in my life. These parties, not all of them are bad. But you have to understand where I’m coming from. You remember Donnie with his friends and all of his partying?”
“I remember.” Came a small whisper.
“Guys like that are trouble, you know this and I know this. I don’t want to hold you back from experiencing teen behaviour.” Tara grabbed Tori’s hand in her own. “But…” Tara couldn’t get out what she really wanted to say. Just the memories of that one night haunted her…
“Tara, if you’re worried about me getting pregnant…”
“No, I trust you. I trust Dawn and I trust that you trust Lindsay. But Tor, I don’t trust others. How can I? Look at our brother? What has he become? Him and his friends, they were never any help. I just can’t bear that thought of,” Taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly, her gaze stayed on her sisters, “I can’t bear thought of having you in my position at such a young age. I love you, I care about you, so forgive me for being a little overprotective, but honestly Victoria, you have got to understand where I am coming from.”
“I do. I understand, you’re worried about all the drinking and…”
“Guys who have no clue what the word no means.” Tara stood up and leaned against the wall.
“Tara, I didn’t mean to upset you or stir up any bad thoughts and memories, I’m sorry. I guess I never thought about your position back when, and you weren’t even at the party…”
“Tori, what’s in the past shall be left there. I just worry that’s all.”
“Well, if Buffy lets Dawn go, can I go and we’ll come back by midnight?”
Tara frowned slightly, “Let me call Buffy ok? Then we’ll see.”
Satisfied with that, Tori ran up to her room to check out her clothing.
~*~*~*~*~*~
“No way!” Willow laughed putting down her cards. “Well Hadley love, look at you, all with the winning Go Fish.”
“We can play a different game.” Hadley smiled at Willow.
“Like what?” Willow made herself comfortable on the Maclay’s living room floor.
“Liiiiiiiiike…” Hadley scratched her head, trying to think of a game she and her ‘mommy’ could play.
“Liiiiiike…?” Willow grinned as she pounced towards the small blonde and began to tickle her. “Oh my…look, Hadley monster has been attack and held underneath…” Stopping her tickling, she giggled and whispered, “What should I be?”
Catching a bit of her breath, Hadley grinned, “Silly Willy.”
Smiling, Willow’s hands went back to tickling, “Hadley monster has been attacked by Silly Willy.”
Tara entered the living room and shook her head as she watched her two girls wrestle on the floor. “Ya know Hadley and Willow, if you don’t calm down, you may not get any ice cream after supper.” She smiled.
Stopping their movements, Hadley and Willow looked up at the blonde. “No ice cream? But…” Willow began but was pounced on by a tiny blonde.
“Arhg!” Hadley squealed as she began to tickle the red head.
“Hey! No fair, you used that threat to distract me.” Willow smiled and pouted.
“We get ice cream all of the time Willmy.” Hadley giggled. “And sometimes you get estasy.”
Raising an eyebrow, Tara smirked when she saw the red heads shocked face.
“Um…” A speechless Willow looked up at the tiny blonde who was now splayed across her chest, with her face in the crook of Willow’s neck.
Bending down, Tara pressed her ear against Willow’s. “She right you know, usually you do.”
RING RING
The phone ringing brought Tara back into her own thoughts, remembering she was about to call Buffy. Answering the phone she heard the blonde slayer’s voice. “Buffy hey, I was just about to call you.”
“Yeah, about the party?” Buffy asked.
“Yes actually, um, I’m really unsure of what to do though.” Tara rubbed her forehead.
“Well Dawn suggested that they go only for a bit and come back along curfew hours.”
“Tori said the same thing.”
“I say we let them go for a bit, Faith and I are planning on going out tonight after patrol, we can always check in on them if any bad vibes are felt.” Buffy suggested.
“That sounds alright. Dawn can spend the night here tonight, that way you and Faith can have an uninterrupted evening.” Tara smiled as she heard a longing sigh come from the other end of the receiver. “I take that as a yes?”
“Thank you.” Buffy replied. “Now you go have fun with those giggling girls in the back ground.
Tara grinned as she watched Hadley and Willow continue to wrestle. “Ok, you have tonight.”
“Oh, I’m sure we will.”
After hanging up, Tara turned towards the staircase. “Tori!” She yelled.
Willow and Hadley stopped and looked at Tara questionably.
“Yes?” Tori came down wearing a totally different outfit.
“You can go with Dawn, but Buffy and I both agreed that the two of you come back here at midnight…got it?”
Tori threw her arms around her sister. “Oh thank you!” She cried with glee.
“Don’t thank me yet, a few rules…no drinking, smoking, doing drugs…got it?”
Rolling her eyes, Tori nodded. “Yes ma’am.”
“Don’t mock me Tor, I’m serious.” Tara breathed.
“And so am I, there will be none of that.” Tori smiled and marched back up to her room.
Frowning a bit, Tara turned back into the kitchen.
“Tara?” Willow sat up and kissed Hadley on the forehead. “How about you set up another card game, and I’ll be back in a few to play ok baby girl?”
Smiling, Hadley knelt in front of the coffee table and began sorting the cards out.
“Baby?” Willow wrapped her arms around Tara’s waist, resting her head on the blonde’s shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
Turning around, Tara rested her forehead against Willow’s. “Nothing, I just…see changes in Tori.”
“What kind?”
Shrugging a bit, Tara just shook her head. Living and raising Tori for years has been one of the best things in her life, but seeing her younger sister change in some way, in unnerved her a little. “I trust her, really I do.”
“Tara baby?” Willow frowned not knowing what to say, she just kissed Tara softly and let the blondes tears fall. “Talk to me.”
“I think it’s just me really, stressed and everything.” Tara whispered.
“About my leaving for a month? Tara…”
“It’s not that, I said I’m glad that you are fulfilling part of a dream, and I meant that. It’s just, Tori is approaching eighteen you know? And she’s like…my own child. I don’t want her to grow up just yet. And she is…fast.”
“Well it’s life, we grow up, and we learn new things and live our lives. Tori is always going to be young sweet Tori in your eyes Tara, same with Hadley, but you can’t change that.” Willow rested her forehead against her girlfriend’s. “You’re not doing this alone anymore remember? I’m here Tara.”
Hadley leaned against the wall and watched the scene unfold. Frowning she walked in and wrapped her arms around her mama’s waist.
Tara smiled softly as she picked up her little girl and squeezed her gently. “I love you.” She whispered into a tiny ear.
“I love you too.” Hadley whispered against Tara’s neck.
Willow kissed Tara’s temple and then Hadley’s. “How about we go in and play cards.”
Hadley slid down Tara’s body and held her hand, pulling her gently into the living room with Willow in tow. “Another game of Go Fish.”
“Go Fish it is then.” Willow grinned and sat cross-legged on the floor as Hadley plopped herself between them.
Tara smiled and watched as Willow and Hadley shuffled the cards together. “I’ll be right back.” She said as she got up and went into the kitchen grabbing something. Coming back she hid it behind her.
“Whatchya have there?” Willow asked coyly.
“Nothing.” Tara grinned and moved a little closer. Hadley’s brows furrowed in confusion. Sitting back down in her place, Tara continued to watch the two shuffle and deal the cards. Raising the object to her face, she smiled, and pressed a button.
Hadley and Willow blinked and saw Tara holding a camera grinning like crazy. “Mama!” Hadley squealed. “My hair!”
“What about your hair? It’s beautiful.” Tara giggled.
“And hey, yeah, I wasn’t even smiling.” Willow pouted playfully.
“Yes you were, you both were.” Tara waggled her eyebrows.
“That’s it Maclay… you better watch your back.” Willow leaned forward a bit.
“Nah, I’d rather watch yours.” Tara replied innocently.
Hadley burst into giggles and climbed over to her mama. “Can I take one of you and Willmy?”
“Of course.” Tara showed Hadley what to push and to make sure her fingers never covered the flash.
Willow sighed as Tara sat behind her and wrapped her arms around Willow’s waist, placing her chin on the red head’s shoulder. Willow laced her fingers into Tara’s and leaned back into the warm embrace.
“Ready?” Hadley smiled.
“Flash us baby.” Willow giggled, and giggled even more as Tara tickled her a bit.
Hadley picked that time to take the picture and grinned. “Perfect.”
~*~*~*~*~*~
“Dawn!?” Buffy yelled from the front door.
“Gees, what is it? I’m not deaf you know.” Dawn came from the kitchen.
“Faith and I are heading out, you and Tori be safe ok?” Buffy fixed her shirt.
“Buffy, you are going out patrolling first, usually you roll around in the dirt with vamps, no use checking out your outfit now.” Dawn snickered.
“Rolling around in the dirt with vamps isn’t the only rolling she’ll probably be doing.” Faith smirked coming down the stairs.
Buffy knew she should be used of Faith’s remarks by now, but for whatever reason, they always seem to make her blush. “Just get your coat and lets go.” Buffy smiled sweetly at Faith. “You,” she looked back at Dawn, “no drinking, no doing drugs…nothing of the sort got it?”
“Yes mom, got it.” Dawn sighed. “And Faith, you’re looking pretty damn sexy tonight.”
“Hey!” Buffy snapped. “No looking.”
“Thank you kiddo!” Faith grinned and turned around. “And B… jealous?”
“No, just… she has a girlfriend, no need looking at other sexy women.” Buffy pouted.
“Come on, let’s blow this joint, dust a few vamps and go have a party of our own.” Faith wrapped her arm around Buffy’s waist leading them out. “Have fun Dawn.”
“You too!” Dawn closed the door and ran upstairs to find out what she should wear. “I have an hour to kill before Tori picks me up, might as well tear apart my closet for some good clothing… or Buffy’s…”
